AM I Atma Farming wrong

Its been 3 weeks, Right, but I spend my last two weeks in Southern Thanalans and it will not fall. I get a few hour here and their, my friend does it in 10 mins, while i spent another 2 hours searching for it. Its like I have the worst luck at this zone, Im not hoping for a 15m drop but its been 2 week and nothing, I've completed six high level fates by my self and it won't fall because no one else is helping to reset the drop rate.

It really makes me want to quit FF complete, like I want this one and you just "Fat Choco" me.

If the Drop rate is super high any no one is around to help it doesn't help me.

Sorry to hear that.
If I had a clue how to get them to drop I'd tell you, but it really seems to be random although there's alot of rumors and theories floating around.
I tried something myself and at first it seemed to work, but then it turned out as pure luck.

I can only tell you how I farmed them.
I spent maybe 2-3 hours every day (more on weekends) for ~2 weeks. Moving to a zone and doing every FATE there, if nothing popped for more than a minute or I didn't get a drop for ~1h, I'd teleport to another zone and continue there.
I went as PLD and used Shield Lob and Flash to get as many mobs as I could on my enmity list.
If another FATE popped while the one I was at was still up I'd often move to the new FATE at 60-80% completition.
I did 99% of the FATEs solo and got gold almost every time. Not sure If I had any Atma drop on a silver or bronze.


SE really has to change this. Doing high level FATEs solo is a joke and the random drop rate is too.
They either have to buff the droprate or give us another way to improve our chances at a drop.
A number of my FC mates are so frustrated that they log in alot less and even think about quiting.

This quest has a very negative influence on the playerbase and SE should've realized that already.

As far as I can tell, it's entirely luck based. You have to make sure you're playing your level 50 class and using your ZENITH Relic weapon, nothing else will work. It took me around 84 hours total to get 7, and has been close to 3 days now since I started trying for my 8th, and no luck for me. Best advice I can give is don't pay attention to other people getting theirs, keep at it, and your work will eventually pay off.

I don't think the system needs to be changed, but we do need some sort of word from SE about what the exact factors are for them. Their silence is what is driving the negative influence, not the quest itself

I have found that if you do 10 -15 fates and it does not drop then goto another area and fate, at first I stayed in one area and did over 150 fates and not one drop. A friend told me to try another area for 10 - 15 fates then move on to another area. I know how upsetting it is to only have a few hours a day and just seam to not get know where. I dont mind working to a goal but after the first 30 fates. It makes u want to just stop.

I'm on the same boat as you. I haven't gotten a single Atma since 2.2 started and I've been at it for hours

As long as u have the quest unlocked and zenith equipped you are doing it right. The drop rates are just very low and completely random. I spent around 50 hours farming fates (capped seals multiple times) without getting a single one. Then one day I got 3 in under an hour. It's just random. My advise is to not go for it exclusively over long hours. Spend an hour every time u log on and then go do other things. Don't worry about when other people get them, it's going to happen. A few FC mates have gotten their atma weapon in under 10 hours of farming. It's just random. Keep at it and get into full parties if you can, this makes you beat fates a lot faster.

PS: This can be a great time to level your chocobo companion from 1-10 if you haven't already. This makes it feel like at least you are making progress on something even when getting no atma.

I got all my Atmas pretty quick just running around doing FATES while waiting for DF.
I just can't seem to get the Upper La Nosca one to drop.

I've even been riding the boat over to the other zone.
It sure will be exciting when it finally drops.

You can't believe how helpfull your comment is. You are telling us all you got in 84 hours 7 Atma weapons done. Wich means with a little math. 7 x12= 84 hours, so you got 1 Atma/hour.

And you talk of no luck?

Think he means atmas not the complete weapons

The one thing I have to add, and this was just my experience in getting my first Atma weapon (by no means a fact) was I honestly saw Atma's drop more often when I was in a group vs. when I was doing Fates solo.
