    Leveling Question

    Hi everyone,
    A little Background on me:
I'm Fairly New to the game and the final fantasy world. The FF game I played was Final Fantasy X and x-2. I come from WOW (vanilla through Wrath of Lich King days and DCUO)
So my MMO experience isn't that bad. I love playing Healer classes. My questions are as follows.

    Leveling:
    • Can I/or Should I Level My Class to level 50 and than level a second class to 15 to get a job(currently CNJ)
    • If i level my Job to 50 and switch to my level 15 class will it auto level to 50?
Or should I just Level on class to 30, than another to 15, than my job to 50?

Overall I am very confused on the leveling and how to go about leveling correctly and efficiently. I know what class and jobs I might be interested in I just want to make sure I level them to benefit my group play as much as possible. Any Help would be appreciated thanks again!

Ideally you should be able to get your job soon after your main class gets to 30. Some people get to 30 and then go level the second class. Some people level the second class first. Some swap back and forth while they are leveling both. Whatever you feel like.
The main point is that people in dungeons will be expecting you to have your job skills by the time you get to Titan (level 35).

Each class levels separately from level 1. All bonus attributes are individual by class - so those points from conjurer will disappear when you switch to arcanist. The arcanist class will earn their own bonus attribute points as that levels up.
The job is like an add-on to the base class. The job level is always the same as the base class level - the earn experience at the same time.

Speaking of benefiting your group play as much as possible, you will also want to get thaumaturge up to level 26 at some point for swiftcast.

    Thank you so much!

Okay so to be clear My job levels at same rate my base class does... my base Class would be my "main" in this case it would be CNJ. correct?

So it would level at the rate that i level my CNJ not my second class correct?

Correct. Once you unlock White Mage, your White Mage level will always be the same as your Conjurer level, because a White Mage is really just a specialized type of Conjurer. This also means WHM has all of your CNJ skills and traits in addition to job-specific WHM ones.

White Mage's secondary class is Arcanist, meaning that's the one that has to be at least level 15 in order to unlock WHM, but using ACN skills as a WHM requires the use of cross-class skill slots, and you don't have access to ACN traits.

Thaumaturge is an optional class. You can unlock WHM without it, but it's useful to level because WHM can also bring in cross-class skills from THM (one of which in particular, Swiftcast, is so highly useful that it's regarded as nearly essential for high-level play).

CNJ, ACN, and THM are each base classes, so they each level separately from the others.

Yes. Let's do specifics using CNJ, ACN, and WHM.

You level CNJ to 30 picking up ~15 bonus attribute points. Those probably go mostly into Mind and maybe Piety.
Now you swap to ACN. ACN starts at level 1 and your stats reset to the lvl 1 ACN stats (modified for race). You level ACN up to 15 earning a few bonus points and putting them wherever.
Now you swap back to CNJ. Your stats and everything are just as they were before but now you can pick up the WHM quest.
You do the WHM quest and get the soulstone. You are now a level 30 WHM with the same stat allocation as you have for CNJ.
You run around as WHM and get up to level 37. Then you unequip the soulstone. Now you are a level 37 CNJ.
You run around as CNJ for a bit more and get up to level 42. Then you reequip the soulstone. You are now a level 42 WHM.
You swap back to ACN and power grind it to level 50! You then reequip your CNJ weapon and WHM soulstone. You are still a level 42 WHM.

thanks you 2.... here's a follow up to you guys posts....

okay and being 50 is where end game raids start right? so I would have to have a job at 50 to be raiding in end game stuff? Also my job is 50 my base class is 50... each job has a base class so theoretically if i level each job to 50 than all my class would be 50 at some point(i know that would take a long long long time)

Correct. When you level as a job it raises the base class. If you level all the jobs to 50 then you would have all the base classes at 50 as well.

Yep, 50 is the current max level and what all the end game content is tuned for. Classes typically aren't used once you obtain your job stone so I wouldn't worry about the actual class so much once you hit 30. Most jobs perform as well or better than the base class, so once you unlock WHM, stay with it and never look back at CNJ.

Apparently the original plan was that the jobs would be more role-focused and therefore best for group content, while the basic classes would be more versatile and therefore best for solo content. Some of that plan remains in the fact that classes get more cross-class slots and can choose from a wider range of skills to use in cross-class slots. Jobs on the other hand can only cross-class from two other classes (ACN and THM in the case of White Mage) and have fewer slots for doing so. However, the stat boosts you get with the job generally outweigh that extra bit of versatility, so most people prefer to just stick with their jobs even when they're soloing.
