    Dungeon Loot Question

Just a quick question, I've played about 7-8 dungeons now and i have only picked up 1 or 2 drops. I've done the main story ones then went back once I'd reached level 30 and did the duty roulette, normally being synced to level 22/ 23. Now I don't seem to get any loot at all, need is often grayed out and greed doesn't go in my favour. Is this because I'm at a higher level than the gear on offer, which is what I thought at first, but surely there are others in the group at higher levels too so I should win a share. Or am I just extremely unlucky? Just bugging me as the last piece of gear I got was nearly 20 levels ago.

    Hi,

you can only need on items that are for your Discipline (Discipline of War/Discipline of Magic).
But it does not stop there, some items are meant by design to be only for specific classes and jobs that evolve of them.

To be true, 7-8 dungeons is not as much as you might think in the world of mmos and i guess you were just unlucky.

Items for the right side of your char (rings, bracers, earring..) are mostly dropped by treasure chests in the dungeons and are the hardest to keep adequate to your level imho.

If you feel like your gear is getting too low for your level, you can always deck yourself in gear that is sold by the NPCs in the towns where the quests match your level.
Sure, it is far from optimal, but enough to have a decent start in the dungeon that is for your level.

If you want gear improvements go in a dungeon that is the closest to the level you actually are. Normally these drops are always an improvement. But like Spoekes said, there are Need and Greed options. If you can need on an item (play the class that's on the item description) you are either the only one or have to battle against one more player. But if you can only place need on an item, it might happen that you battle with 3 other players so it is more a matter of luck. BTW, you can see what numbers you and the other players rolled so you can see how lucky/unlucky you were. Just check your chat box.

Best way is to go to a dungeon with your mates so they can support you by not needing/greeding at all. But even without, it should work because especially when on low level roulette, a lot of people are generally not intersted anymore in these drops.

I understand the need and greed I think, I also thought I knew when I was playing with new players as you get the bonus for player new to the dungeon right? If there are new players, I tend to pass as they probably need it more, if its something I really want for one of my other classes, I might greed and tend to get a roll between 10 - 20, which is low as I understand it so might just be unlucky?, (rolled 57 a min ago and was still beaten).

Unfortunately, none of my friends have ps4 and this is my first mmo, so I guess I just have to learn to be pacient , just wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. Two drops in my first dungeon may have given me false expectations

Noble thinking on the new player thing, thumbs up.

For your friends and lack of PS4:
You can still play together with them playing on PS3 or PC.

It's just "dumb" (un)luck - you can roll 11 and win and next moment 98 and loose ... Also - many players greeds on every loot as they can exchange the gear in Grand Company for seals and use them to purchase crafting materials, "repairs" (dark matter), better GC gear and venture coins so even if they don't plan to use it on their main or secondary class / job it still have a good use to them.

Your level does not matter, if the item is for your class you can need on it. I need on everything I can and greed on everything else, if it is not an upgrade I turn it into the Grand Company for seals.

You have just been unlucky. You can run a dungeon dozens of times and get nothing of your class and other times all the loot is for your class. It is all random.

I don't always get the choice to need on things, even when it says Dow?

Some items, especially later on, are tailored for specific classes. Early on there will be a distinction between tank and DPS gear, so a gladiator can only Need on tank stuff. Later on you'll also see a distinction between melee DPS and archers (former use strength, latter dexterity), especially for accessories. Lancer also gets chainmail which, while tanks can also wear it, it's basically lancer specific.
