If I hear the phrase "Rose Tinted" one more time to describe something I liked...I'll be miffed.
[QUOTE=i2agnarok;2055088]I realize I might be coming off as slightly antagonistic, and I do want to establish that's not it. I'm genuinely curious, lol.
I feel like the LinkShells are severely underused here. (your quote)
I didn't interpret your post as antagonistic whatsoever, players of recent years in MMOs will not tolerate a ton of forced cooperation style progression, this has had it's pros and cons.
The biggest problem I see with this system (DF especially) is the cross server aspect, why be civil if A. You probably wont ever see these people again, and B. There probably wont be any repercussions to bad character anyway.
I wholeheartedly agree with the Linkshell comment, albeit in this game Free Company is where it's usually at, not Linkshells, perhaps some groups approach content from them aggressively I don't know.
Yeah, lack of backlash does make things a little more YOLO, I guess one could say.

I see that you already understand where I'm going with the Linkshells, but I'll elaborate a little more. I was in the largest guild on the server. Largest in terms of members. FC chat was more or less the same 10-15 people every day, with about another 10 floating members in and out of the chat. The rest were either inactive or didn't utilize much, if not at all. The leader had some weird fear of endgame, so there was really no progression for people that hit 50, and most of us just helped run newer people through stuff so they didn't have to wait for DF, or help them clear Primals.
Eventually some stuff happened and essentially all of active members left and made a newer guild. We're getting people into endgame, people are having a good time, etc, but we're behind. Progressing, but we've got some ground to make up. Me, I still want to advance, but getting the people together that can actually handle it online at the same time has been a little difficult. I felt like I wasn't going to get anywhere, since Coil wasn't in DF (not that I would have wanted to use it for Coil for the reason we've been discussing, mind you) and I didn't want to actually LEAVE the FC. So, I hit the forums, got added to a few Linkshells, and now I'm in a better boat. We're preparing for T5 and I've been able to tackle other content that I really wasn't able to before, and I was completely oblivious to how useful they were before that.
I think they're an immense help for people in that sort of situation and think they should be advertised/organized a bit more.
tl;dr Linkshells are awesome, and I'm on the "group from your server" bandwagon.
