    WHM Build

So I'm still really new to the game. I played a little bit at launch, but life got in the way. Coming back, I picked up CNJ and progressed to WHM. I've noticed that MP management is a real challenge so far. Are there any recommended builds for my skill points, or other tips you guys can think of that will help out?

MP management becomes a little better once you get Regen (strong heal over time, your most cost-effective heal and saves you a lot of Cures) and Shroud of Saints (minor MP regen). Most, including me, will recommend you put all your points into MND but you can split points off into PIE if you feel like you need it and then respec later.

I'd recommend full Mind. Piety helps, but you need a lot more than 30 points to make a difference in your mp pool.

At level 32, you will just have gotten Freecure. Make sure you are using Cure I as much as possible and Cure II only on Freecure procs unless absolutely necessary. At level 34 you'll get Stoneskin, which you should probably not use too much during combat until level 50 - it will TANK your mana very quickly. At level 35 you'll get Regen, which is a ridiculously efficient single target heal, albeit a slow one. Keep that on your tank as much as possible and you'll do great. Then at level 38 you'll get Shroud of Saints, which will help your mana a lot.

Basically, you're at one of the low points in WHM MP management (just past, actually, since you have Freecure). The other ones will come around 47 (Shroud hasn't updated yet and Aurum Vale is hard on mana), and when you first hit 50 and haven't yet gotten higher level gear but are still expected to heal like it in starting raids. If you can make it through those times, you'll do just fine.

My Focus as a WHM as below:-

VIT (till you can overcome core spike damage) > MND > DET > SS/PIE/CRIT

You're just going to need a certain amount of HP to endure things like raid-wide aoe attacks in some end game content. However, this is more a function of your item level and not something that needs to "built" towards. You won't put any of your free points in vitality, ever, and all main gear gives you vitality first and foremost already along with mind. Always go for higher level/vitality+mind gear before you worry about which secondary stats it has.

PIEty is the best secodary stat for WHM.

WHM only has two issues you have to overcome.
    • MP Management
    • Healing through debuffs/%healing
The strength of your Cure I/II does not fluctuate significantly with allocating the 30 stat points. So don't fret about under-healing.

It is recommended to allocate 30 MND because it has the greatest effect overall on your healing.

    PIE #2
If you know a fight you don't need as much mana/PIE. - But it helps.

    VIT #3
If you don't have the HP, you don't have the gear/ilvl for that content.

    DET #4
Increases average heal strength by 1%, which is nice, but is under-healing by 10hp a concern of yours?

    SS #5
    Fast spells.

    Crit #6
    Over-healing bad.

Piety is the only secondary statistic that alleviates the pressures of playing WHM. Everything else is a bonus. Don't sacrifice anything for VIT/MND/PIE, these are core statistics.

I think piety is an underrated stat...

    It increases your MP regen.

I wonder what is more beneficial then, 30 in MND or 30 in PIE. It seems like 30 in MND makes little noticeable difference in healing strength.

I play WHM a lot for end-game and all other content, though my main is MNK. I did 15 MND and 15 Piety, and had minor issues of people dying and I having a bunch of MP available (just couldn't keep up with the dmg that was being done to them). I recommend putting 30 MND in ur stats, because it maximizes your heals. Healing will get easier as you get used to the content your doing and once you get certain skills like Regen mentioned from others.

One of the things I highly recommend, is stay away from Spell Speed equips as much as possible. I used to stack as much as I could, which was great for getting spells off faster and more often, but MP drained quick, the stats to focus on for your gear is MND & crit. They are by far the most helpful. But this is just from my experiences, and I do a lot of my content with static groups, so I'm use to my group and party style, while your groups may be different and do content differently, so you just need to find your happy middle ground.
