Sorry to say, but I think that will need to happen, and will happen by desired design.I just hope, really really hope, that they will give every class a second job eventually. If that happens, the thing I hope even more is that they do not make us use attribution points and gimp one job just like SMN and SCH. Please SE, think about this!
Some people will say that an INT based SCH heals as good as one that is MND based, or the MND based SMN only does X less dps or even swap points after buying some grand company item. There are people who just want to play a job the way they want to w/o changing attr points every other day.
Now.. Let us pray.
bumping because I want to see some more of other people's ideas.
A lot of people react like that when I expose my theory, it's almost as if they fear that if I'm right, DRK will never see the light. I am by no means a DRK-basher, I just think that my idea is backed up by currently 9 out of 9 existing jobs in the game, and that as far as the game works, I could see it more probably for a whole Great Sword-based class with its own DRK job to come out, rather than DRK coming from PLD.
People think DRK should come from Gladiator because Paladin does, and DRK and PLD are known opposite faces of the same medal, but then I say, why was not the same done for WHM and BLM? They too are alter egos of each other, yet they do not come from the same class. The principle is the same.
Yoshi P in an interview made an example of how class classes morph could change from job to job by using DRK coming from Gladiator, that is true, but he also made sure to stress that his was a mere example, and until I see an official announcement, that is what the Gladiator > DRK theory will be to me. An example. RDM has as many chances to come from Gladiator than DRK does, and maybe less excuses not to. Nine of the current jobs lead me to believe in the theory I exposed, and I'm the type to go by statistics.
tl;dr: Don't bash others opinions just because they are different than your own. Keep the topic constructive. "Nope" is not an answer when it comes to theorizing.
You know, you are taking my disagreement WAY too sensitively. I am having a discussion with you, and if you can't address my comments with out falling behind the wall that I am "bashing" your theory, then maybe chatting online isn't for you. Maybe you should make a blog with the replay option turned off?A lot of people react like that when I expose my theory, it's almost as if they fear that if I'm right, DRK will never see the light. It's your outright denial that I may have a point that was off to me. I am not angry or anything, just saying that your answers are a little tunnel-visioned. Other answers you have given to other players sound like that as well. I don't think anyone in this thread has suggested anything stupid or too crazy to be an eventuality, and your "nope" or "sorry, not gonna happen" replies may be what brought this thread to the point of needing a bump. You know, you are taking my disagreement WAY too sensitively. With all that being said, I apologize for distressing you, I saw something wrong in your reply and wanted to make sure it would go noticed.
Keeping the class system in its current state will kill future replay of the game.
Imagine if a new jobs come out, but you have already leveled the class to 50. You are just instant 50 or whatever max is? Thats terrible design.
The way you presented it was as a purposed extension of my already existing rules, I just happen to think, both opinion and from info remembered, that they are not applicable. As I said before, in 1.0 there were plans on adding new weapons to classes, which I guess would be used for different jobs; also there is the fact that they can job lock a weapon (if they don't want to do the prior), the same way they do with summoner/scholar books. Now as noted in another thread, there was a vote on which type of job would be the 9th to be added and the end result was the summoner or scholar (I personally think it was the scholar) , so I would chock up the same visual appearance of main hand weapon and animations used to the lack of production time in making it.It's your outright denial that I may have a point that was off to me. Thanks for your thoughts though.
I see this as a reason for making multiple characters, getting people to pay for the premium subscription so they can have multiple characters on the same server.
I think adding a Greatsword DPS class would be a horrible idea, giving Marauder or Gladiator a dps job would give them versatility and more likely to be seen for quick grinding stuff.A lot of people react like that when I expose my theory, it's almost as if they fear that if I'm right, DRK will never see the light.
