    To put the RDM debate to rest, since I played one in FFXI, my arsenal consisted of all the elemental staves, Joyeuse, kracken club, and a pair of lvl 1 daggers. My armor consisted of healing set, enfeebling sets (int or mnd priority depending on the spell), magic attack(nuking and int priority) enhancing set ( int or mnd priority depending on the spell). To play a rdm, was to play a Jack of all trades, and play each role effectively. The only limitations of a rdm was we didn't have access to axes, polearms, great swords, or great axes.

    Depending on what role a rdm was doing had a variety of weapons to choose from, however in ffxiv having access to both rapier and staff should be adequate to allow the rdm to choose between melee or ranged, barspells, en-spells, and haste should be aoe, refresh single target, the line of enfeebles slow, paralyze, dia (aoe diaga, and single target dia I,II, III), 3 levels of fast cast passive, passive to enfeebles, enhancing, and healing (off heals support for ranged) access to cleric stance, defensive spells Phalanx , blink, and spike spells (self only). A defined support class, not true dps or true heals. With a role to wear down a mob, and build up damage. Support role is not well defined in ffxiv as of yet, and it needs to be. Keep in mind all spells won't be available at level 50.

    I guess comparing FFXIV rdm and FFXI rdm isn't a good idea. Just look at the differences between 11 brd and 14 brd...
    Moreover, ff14 gamesystem isn't as complicated as ff11, there is very few moments where switching gears is a msut (having an Extrem equipment set, and a coil equipment set for the accuracy cap is the only thing coming to mind...).

    Rdm could really be anything, because it is a jack of all trade. And if I remember correctly, Yoshi-P did say MSK would be very different from what we could expect... so yeah, mage gunner could be inbound...

    That's what I'm hoping for. Maybe a DPS/Heal hybrid, where you heal by dpsing. Toss in some cures and cleanses, maybe haste ect and you got yourself a good hybrid support character that is distinct from what's in the game currently. *hopes*

    Well that would be determined by group comp, progression or farm mode, fight per fight basis, gear changes are not required, because only tanking, healing and dps are defined, support hasn't been. Obviously boss fights would be tailored with this is mind, means they would get harder. The only mage gunner I know of is a Corsair. (dice rolls and elemental shots were not physical)

    Personally my only one bet right now is Red Mage springing from Gladiator. Sword, shield, and access to MP-based abilities. It would wear lighter armor than PLD, but have access to more magic abilities in return. I could see it be a multi-tasking support class or a debuffing class, depending on what its five job abilities will be.

    I was wondering on that..... Even tho SCH and SMN technically use the same weapon, books, when you equip a SCH book it automatically changes you to SCH, so Yoshi could make say... 2h sword usable only by DRK, and whenever you equip it, you automatically become DRK (after unlocking it obviously).

    What I'd like to see :

    GLA -> Dark Knight, DPS.
    Could have an ability to erase enmity and use it to deal more damage (meaning, the higher you are on enmity list, the more damage you do... would make use of those enmity + skills from GLA...) along those "use hp to deal damage" stuff.

    LNC -> Templar, Tank.
    With some magic to debuff target, and negates the damage it does, instead of reducing the damage taken, making it an interesitng tanks against bosses who likes to AoE a lot.

    PGL -> Dancer, Healer.
    Adding various stands (or steps) to give some effects on its existing weapon skills, like "heals the two party members with the lowest hp percentage" or "heal party member with the highest enmity toward target"...

    ARC -> Beastmaster, DPS.
    Getting a pet to have some variety on attacks, and buffs to make it usefull. Maybe add some traps-skill with aoe effects. Not too sure about this one though...

    THM -> Oracle, Healer.
    Using the umbral ice and fire in a totally new way, making so that on ice, you can target ally, and on fire you can target foe. Getting rid of the mana regen, and getting some skill to help switch from one to another, for example. (Get ready for my healing fire 3 ! )

    CNJ -> Geomancer, DPS.
    Well, this would be the most obvious one for me if CNJ gets a DPS job. I don't have any idea on how it would work, but it could be a classic caster, with more elemental spells, and debuffs to lower target resistance to specific element.


    As for the future class, it's hard to make a guess without seeing the base class skills...

    That would not really work, atleast in 8man runs. They would simply use war or pld as MAin tank and reduce templar as a debuffer.

    Ahh... well those spells could be used only if the Templar has some sort of stack, gained from sustaining a set amount of damage ?

    Nope, the game is more than capable with doing other than that as is; such as making the entire new line of weapons job specific. Not to mention as discussed in earlier posts, that classes were going to get new weapons that could be used.

    Maybe not, maybe we will get replacement abilities for ones that don't fit. With programing about anything is possible, and Yoshi-P has said as much. We could be seeing a great sword or twin blades for gladiator and those shield abilities have to go somewhere.

    So these cannot be added, read rule #3.
