Damn straight! You make a good point, Issachar, and as it turns out, this was also one of Yoshi-P's concerns, and that is why he was reluctant to say that an updated credits screen would definitely be in the next patch. In essence, we've added the task to the long list we already have, and it will be implemented once higher-priority issues have been addressed. That said, this isn't something that will be shelved and forgotten. A lot of people are working hard and we'll make sure that they are properly represented.
Well bro, I know it's not a simple .txt file, but it wouldn't be that particularly difficult nor time consuming. Also they wouldn't have to release it as separate update, they could add the file in 1.19 or 1.20.It isn't just a single text file. They have to edit the .dat that would have the credits, calculate time spent in man hours into the budget, prime it for an update for the clients to download, not to mention other various oddities and tasks required for any part of the process.
Things aren't as simple as .txt, bro.
Fair play! But even the things mentioned, perhaps it's just the way with my work, but if we had a project to do that, the man hours would be low for such a task and the impact on "more important things" would be minimal.
I wouldn't expect it to be "next patch deadline!" or anything, but as a inbetween-major-tasks thing it would take someone all of perhaps one hour's work to establish the details of the project, one hour's work to update the file, one hour's work to package it and there we go.

Thinking about it, if they were to change it I would hope they keep the previous names on the list and just note it as "Current Team". Think about it, if you've read the interview, Yoshida has basically said he's only been getting 2 hours of sleep during this ordeal of trying to get the game into shape.
Now think about it, how many sleepless nights and long hours do you think Hiromichi Tanaka had to put into getting the game out for the deadline which when you think about it even after all their efforts they just weren't able to pull it off and hoped for the best.
With the bad start and basically being shunned by the MMO community I wouldn't be surprised if the overall change was because of the fatigue they were all facing, they are older so a younger team would do better to work and do the things they just don't have the stamina for anymore.
I think we should just remember that Tanaka and his older group had been working on this game for years making the beautiful scenery and conceptualizing unique concepts that are now being taken out of the game aka stamina system. I think had Tanaka and his group been given the time to actually work on this game and it wasn't rushed out to compete with WoW"s expansion, Rift's release and such, SE would've saved themselves a lot of money.
Sadly with the ordeal in mind they just became scapegoats for a problem that was caused by the ones who wanted to rush this game out the door and rely on it's FF title to save it. Heck if anything Tanaka prolly got the boot on this project cause he was very determined not to charge players for a game he wasn't happy with. With that in mind the president prolly tried to work them harder and while he tried he just couldn't continue the long hours, he was basically defeated.
So since the pres wants to try and get this game into shape as into subscription fee as soon as possible the best idea would be to put a new team full of energy to start working on the game so they can at least get things out faster rather then relying on a worn down team that's defeated by a failed release.
Well, the fact that he had to sit down and have a meeting with Yoshi about that just shows how much time it could take~

Fernehalwes didn't say he had a meeting, he said he had a sit-down. Totally different.

This was my motivation for raising the issue. Naturally, I don't expect this to happen overnight. There would be evaluations and all sorts of internal-political implications to consider that would take someone away from other activities for at least a few days.
But I do believe that it is wroth acknowledging the hard work of people working in very stressful circumstances. If it were me working in that studio, I would hate to go officially uncredited. Appearing in the staff roll would create a sense of worth and invigoration for me. I want our new faces to be able experience this.
Thank you, Fernehalwes, for taking this matter forward. It means a lot to me as a player.![]()
How about, I had a sit-down meeting?
But seriously, Yoshi-P is a very cool director/producer in that, beyond meetings (which we do have a lot of), his door is always open to each and every member of the dev team. If something comes up, he encourages us to let him know, which is why when we saw this post about the credits, we decided to mention it (albeit while discussing other, more important issues like Miqo'te swimsuits).
Too right, there isn't a more important issue in the game then the Miquo'te swimsuits, get it wrong and the game is doomedHow about, I had a sit-down meeting?

Seriously, to the dev team I appreciate all you guys are doing.
