If I had to grind FATEs for a set amount of time and it required other meaningful and difficult or just grind-worthy content I wouldn't mind so much as long as I could see an end to it. Time consuming means something entirely different when you bring in the concept of RNG. Because its never the same for everyone, and when I get lucky and get one in half an hour compared to 7 hours, I don't feel like I've achieved anything or that I've overcome some giant obstacle.
I just feel relief that I can move on, or have the feeling that maybe the Atmas do exist.

The Animus books for example are COMPLETELY different and I love the idea of them. Compared to FATE grinding and luck, I can actually see set goals stretched out before me where I can set aside time to complete them. When it comes to the atma gathering I have no concept of how lucky I'll be, or if I'll spend another hour or two achieving essentially nothing. The time you spend with nothing goes towards nothing, and that's what sucks. I guess you get seals. Enough gil to port home. But it contributes nothing towards your progress.
