even though devs don't want us to have him, bump for carbuncle for smn
I made a thread about this a few weeks ago http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...4-Egi-Glamours

I've said it before and I will say it again:Thank you for pointing out that the summoner in this game has nothing to do with the actual Final Fantasy series at all and making this game more of a theme park run of the mill off of World of Warcraft. At least classes in that game actually relate to the series that it came from originally.
I really don't mind the "Egi" designs as much as other people do. What really bothers me is that the job isn't even a Summoner. The pets are just a little helper that does some additional damage or tanks when solo, while the main job is keeping up and manipulating DoT spells. We're Warlocks from WoW.

It would be better if Summoner would be more like in the classic games.
The summoner start his summon, with a very long cast time. During the cast time an animation start where the summoned egi start his appearance stunt over the summoner. Then after the cast time, the egi dive down to the target, do his attack and vanish again.

SE should just call us warlocks cause that's what we are.
Doesn't work. I did that in FFXI for spirits. Took 5 years for them to act, and when they did they completely ignored the problem and solutions presented and just changed it randomly to see if it helped, which it didn't.
Sometimes I wonder if any English feedback actually reaches them without being garbled to something else in the translation process.

I don't think its because they won't let you summon Carbuncle but more they can't as the flaw with having 2 jobs stem from one class as both summoner and scholars end up replacing summon 1 and 2 with different pets but totally agrees summoner is just lazy programming and needs reworking to fit in with other ff games

As long as its not like FF11's summoner I would be ok with it, kind of like the summoner having access to the primals spells and them appearing briefly when the spell is cast.It would be better if Summoner would be more like in the classic games.

You couldn't give Summoner too long of a cast time or they would be useless on fights like Titan where you are constantly on the move.
