That's still jumping through hoops to do something in an awkward way, and also causes entirely different inconveniences.

Not to be rude, but what exactly is so awkward or inconvenient that warrants the Developers taking care of this? I don't see why they should have to jump through hoops when you already have the tools to automate it. Are you running out of macro-space? You should ask for more of that then, as it's all stored client-side anyway.
