To do rank XIII Exploration Ventures on Gatherers (BTN, MIN, don't have a fisher, 383 is impossible to get to on Fisher cause lack of offhand) you required 383 Gathering.

To get to this number you need: Full HQ, Full Gathering materia melded to cap on every piece of gear. Or to hand over your Ilvl 70 hatchet to your retainer and then you still need some melds.

This is a bit unfair no? Gatherers have to be near max-stats, yet combat classes can be geared in generally subpar gear you can get from drops in dungeons?

fisher needs 308 gathering
i max meldet all my 3 retainers. It's not rly a problem, because you don't have to overmeld that much (because you need only gathering stat) and can use mainly lvl1 or 2 materia.

383 gathering? Christ... my Botanist would be better geared than I currently am.

Is there a list anywhere of what people are getting out of these high level ventures to rationalize having to meld that much just to reach the minimum?

for hitting 50 retainer and getting them geared enough for the highest 18 hour exploration you get items exclusive to just that. (mostly vanity)

I can't believe they expect full HQ melded sets... the HQ I was expecting and was just getting ready to toss together a set but the melds came out of left field.

It'll "only" cost about 150K on my server to meld everything but that's a lot considering my Arcanist retainer has almost an entire free i70 set I was tossing together for the sake of it from Brayflox Hard drops.

yea it seems alot easier to just go a battle class retainer since you only need i70 for the highest and that's pretty easy to accomplish

the items should be worth it though, i mean from what i see on my server none of them are even on the market yet just got a taffeta cloth today.

I guess it doesn't bother me, I think my 50 BTN has mid 300s. I do wish they would add more gear and tools for gathers and crafters, for as "important" as we are it feels like we are not. I also am not a fan knowing that anything I craft will hit a ceiling of 90 when there is 100 gear that can be purchased.
