a Question about the server locks

As a new player via the PS4 I've found some friends are actually playing this but they're on a server that is locked, will moogle ever reopen? is this normal? I've never actually seen an mmo lock servers before, so i'm concerned about levelling a chaarcater then having to start anew.

If its going to be days, i can wait..but weeks and months..

just wondering if any vets had seen this before at other launches and might help with an estimate.

Just reload that window with the refreshing button they give you and your fine.Some times they will and can lock servers to let the lag slow down from the flood of people joining or they may be working on that server.Just wait you will be able to get on it at some point.

Check the character creation restriction (on the lodestone) it updates every few hours

Usually servers become locked only for short times, depends on how conjested they are

As said above - due to the how the login and character creation system works SE closes the servers at "busy" hours for each particular server to avoid the congestions. This changes every 4 - 6 hours and the best time to create the new character is during low traffic hours. For moogle (EU) it will be late night or early morning (let's say 3 - 8 am GMT). Technically you shouldn't be "waiting" more than one day. Moogle is atm open for character creation:

My friends are having the same problem joining my server, leviathan. Its been a week and they still cant get on. Even when it says its not restricted. Its gettin old lol
