Sooo, how much time has passed?!

I was walking around the Rising Stones talking to the npc's & after talking to Thancred I was like "What?!"

Thancred(talking to F'lhaminn)- "Some fifteen years ago, a mission─hic─took me to Ul'dah. 'Twas then that I first chanced to gaze upon your beauty."

15 years wth?! Ok I remember Ferne stating that the coarse of 1.0 was over a span of a year in Eorzea, and where we are now is 5 years after that. Where are they getting when Thancred went to Ul'dah to help get the Grand Companies back together & saw F'lhaminn at the parade was 15 years ago considering that's when 1.0 players came into the picture.

I just assumed Ascillia was like 14 or 15 when we first saw her & a year later Minfilia is like 15 or 16 with The Path of the Twelve, then now in 2.0 she's an adult. Now I'm just confused

Most of the important city-state cutscenes in 1.0 actually took place 10 years before the start of the game. So, 5 years the original warriors of light appeared in the city-states (1.0), and 10 years before (15 before ARR!) that the Sharlyans appeared in the city-states to investigate (a fairly large amount of the cutscenes you see in 1.0) which took place within echos, before you even knew the echo existed.

It is currently 5 Seventh Umbral Era (or 1 Seventh Astral depending on who you ask), which is five years after Version 1.0 (1572 Sixth Astral Era) during which the city-state introductions mostly took place in Echoes dating ten years before that in 1562 Sixth Astral Era, making it a grand total of 5 years since Thancred helped reform the grand companies, and 15 years since he first came there and met F'lhaminn.

ohhh, well ok I guess if the whole city-state story of ul'dah (and the other ones too) were just kind of a bunch of echoes thrown into one.
Just seems like a weird way of bringing back the 1.0 stories & one REALLY long Echo if that's the case lol.

Pretty much - that was the big revelation that was never actually mentioned in game in 1.0 - it was only when Ferne mentioned it on the old forum that players found out about it - that for much of the first part of the game (their starting city), the player is pretty much just blundering around in Echo visions of other npcs' memories of events that happened ten years previously.

It seems the original Tanaka storyline was actually leading up to the revelation of that idea as a major plot point, but unfortunately it was never resolved.
