Best Grand Company for X class?

I've read conflicting things about grand companies. Some people have been saying there's virtually no advantage to pick one GC over another based on your class. And I've heard other people say that towards end game the gear they offer tends to cater towards a particular class.

I prefer to just pick the one I like the most, but at the same time I don't want to make a choice that will gimp my paladin if there's one that has a clear advantage over the others.

There is no advantage to any of them endgame. The gear you get from them tops off at item level 55 and currently gear can go up to item level 115. Any gear you get from the grand companies are going to be a stopgap solution that you are replacing ASAP and are not worth factoring into your decision.

Check when guides were written. Back in 1.0, Grand Company gear WAS suitable endgame gear. Notsomuch anymore. All classes have a level 55 crafted set anyway, so you can completely ignore GC gear. Especially since the crafted stuff can melded into materia to make money.
