You just need to educate your dps. When i play tank i always put number. If you aggro 2 before 1 i take it back. If you do it again, that mean you can deal with it and if you can't you char die that's all. I used to it in amdapor (the first one) and i had no problems with dps. If they flame i just tell them what happen and if they do it again it's their problem not mine
For the record i main dps and when i'm taking a mob, i now i can kill it alone. If you aggro everything and can quit or deal with it then you don't know how to play your job.

i had a blackmage do this the other day. he was really frustrating myself and the healer. he wouldnt quit being a jerk. even the other dps was pissed. the healer and i finally just both left and told him to enjoy going back to the long queue and thanks for the ruined the group.
we contemplated doing it again to this guy, but i really needed blayfox completed. i dont mind mass pulling when i know the instance. ive gotta know whats coming, best way to manage resources for the pulls, what cooldowns to use and when, etc. first time in a new place that is just a stupid way to do it. he just wanted to be a jerk...plain and simple. oddly this seems to always fall on dps. healers and tanks dont generally have the attitude. they just want a calm steady progression instance...usually.

I stopped playing a few months ago. I got up to basically end game and ceased playing. I have now come back with the PS4 version and am mostly enjoying the game again.
I have noticed, DPS especially, are horrible in the fact they seem to want to abuse the tanks. They ignore threat.
I have come across, at very least one dundeon a day, where they will just pull with AOEs, or attack mobs before me, don't focus fire at all, and then blame the tank (me) that I cannot control the mobs?
I have a pretty good rotation. I use Flash. I use my AoE, I pull with lob and flash immediately to get aggro. etc. but this game is designed to have a fine line in hate generation. you have to let the tank get it first. then they complain?
Holding mobs and mitigating damage is only one part of being a successful tank. The other part (and arguably equally important) is keeping the DPS obedient and submissive. Always make sure you take a moment to establish dominance before the first pull whenever you're partying with DPS that you don't know. Otherwise, you risk running into problems where they'll start doing things on their own. When dominance is successfully established they'll let you lead, make all the pulls, and focus-fire on your marked targets. This really needs to be written into all the tanking guides too, but I can understand why people would be hesitant to include it.

honestly , its pretty simple. be the one the mark targets at the beginning, and start attacking in order. if they choose to not listen, then just let them die. as a tank , your main focus is to prevent the healer from dying. if the dps complains just them know thats how this run will go and if they wanna leave its fine. you will get in another dun in less than 5mins while they are going to wait another 45 min or so. you have the most power in any run. you just dont know it yet.

The dps spike in new gear is significant, and with it, tanks have experienced a newfound difficulty to maintain hate.

Upgrade your weapon, upgrade it fast. It will help you the most.

Also: If you decide to go the Atma/Animus route, be sure to prioritize strength over other stats in your books.

My main is PLD, I love it. My DPS jobs are BLM and DRG and BRD. I love being in a group with a good tank and pushing the limit. That's just it though, push the limit, not exceed it. Maybe those of us that play as tanks understand that better. Also when we do FC runs we play the game, take hate from the tank. Kind of a training thing, develop take back skill or whatever.

When I enter DF groups, I do let them know straight up, "You yank it, you tank it". Once we get an idea as to how we work together then I let em know if they can let loose or not. But letting them know first hand that "I will let you die" let's em know not to fekk around ^^

these people outgear me. if they go total crazy right off the bat of couse they will pull threat from me.
has anyone else experience this? are DPS just that obsurd? for every one run I have that is perfectly smooth I have two where I have at least one insane person in it...that curses me to no end.

sorry for the rant, but it is just a bit discouraging to see this happening so often. this sort of behavior just makes me want to stop playing again.

when i posted that they did, but they should also recognize this and adjust appropriately. that shouldn't even have to be said.
its not as much of a problem now, but when you have people in 90+ gear opening up full throttle on someone that is 50ish, yeah there is a problem.
the purpose of running the content is TO UPGRADE, and playing foolish hinders that.
    now i am ilvl 89.

My biggest problem when it comes to this are the healers who keep healing the problematic damage-dealers. Most of the time I ask them not to heal the damage-dealers when they do that, and to let them die, they reply with something like, "ugh, can we just get through this dungeon?" and keep on healing. At that point I just tell them they need to find another tank, and leave the duty.

It was like that in FFXI too, I've noticed - this kind of "it's fine to suffer through anything as long as you get the job done" mentality. It's poison.

I was in Tam Tara and I had a lancer who was pulling. After awhile I stopped healing him but the tank would run to his rescue. Someone made a comment about how I was a nice healer. I then responded "I know but I was going to let him die but then the Tank saved him". Just after that the lancer chilled out and was more cautious. Sometimes just having a conversation will scare people.
