he saved him because the "hes a crap tank" comments would start to fly if he didnt do his "job" despite it being the lancer's fault for being a pain.I was in Tam Tara and I had a lancer who was pulling. After awhile I stopped healing him but the tank would run to his rescue. Someone made a comment about how I was a nice healer. I then responded "I know but I was going to let him die but then the Tank saved him". Just after that the lancer chilled out and was more cautious. Sometimes just having a conversation will scare people.

Yesterday I just went into Sastasha for the first time on my 16 GLA and have to say I had a fun time as a tank. Enmity seems to be a lot more straightforward in FFXIV than other games I've played. The party I had worked well together. The ARC and PUG I was with watched the enmity gauge on the mob they were fighting and noticed that it was going up, they either completely laid off or switched to another mob. The ARC was a bit more guilty of pulling aggro from mobs I was not directly attacking, but after a couple of times of him almost dying, he got the hint to hit them correctly. The PUG was excellent, I usually kept aggro with him and me, sometimes he would take it but nothing a Shield Lob or Flash wouldn't fix, which was really nice. They were all 18 and me 16, too. I was incredibly nervous but it all turned out OK. I'm sure I'll run into my fair share of idiots but my first time wasn't too bad![]()
I would have defended the tank in a heart beat so would the archer. The Archer was the one who said I was being a nice healer.
I think it is my tanking mentality but I am very aware of everything going on in the group. While leveling my lancer I could tell that someone was heavy thrust spamming. That is all he was doing. By playing each class every move becomes identifiable. I call out the bad by offering advice and then other people start to notice it. A good friend who was dreading tanking decided to do Sastasha as a Gladiator. The healer was medica spamming by that I mean as soon as any dps or himself took 20 damage he cast medica. Of course my buddy could barely hold threat against that. Of course the healer said he was doing nothing wrong. I corrected him by calling him out and told him straight up this is his problem.
To be continued
Another time while I was in SV as scholar the Dragoon was rushing the tank along to pull faster. I straight up told him next time he should tank it instead of complaining. Then when he screwed up or charged in and spawned sprites I politely reminded him of his earlier comment. The party relies on tanks and thus should respect the pace he sets if it is comfortable.
