yes, speculation and assumptions are always a solid ground for an arguement.Speak for yourself!
And, please, allow me to elaborate. Things like mounts are usually a necessity for MMORPGS. I cannot think of any upcoming or newly released MMOs that don't have mounts, even just to rent. Eden Eternal is a F2P MMO. What do you know, it was released just the other day with mounts. Ragnorak Online 2 is another example, the game is crap and is being panned in reviews even though it's only in beta tests. Even it has mounts.
The fact that SE still doesn't have mounts suggests that they are understaffed or that the staff was too busy making the game really cool. Since the latter is obviously not a possibility, the former seems pretty valid.
who cares how long it took them to implement it, its here, get over it
Excuse me?[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.]
For someone that allegedly stalks me so much you don't do a very good job.
I am always defending this game. (And protecting it from people that want to destroy it, people like Yoshi maybe).
All I am saying is: observational techniques would lead one to the conclusion that FFXIV is understaffed in certain areas.
Not having mounts on release (even if they were supposed to come with some breeding programme or whatever) is evidence of a malnourished workforce.
There's no need to have a heart-attack because I pointed out the obvious.

Well they told us they're going to be just rentals for the time being, which from my POV justifies quite a bit of the complaining (remember, they weren't in the game at launch so they could be "more than mounts").
Yes I know that was said before Yoshi-P came around, but that doesn't mean every piece of work they had done till then was thrown out the window! It's not like he jumped into the office and lit everything on fire so they could start again from absolutley nothing!
To me this either means that Tanaka lied to us in the first place (very likely) OR it was just so far from completion that it actually took them this long just to get some simple rental mounts in. And please, I'm happy we're even getting chocobos but don't tell me a rental mount is worth getting all excited for. It's pretty much the standard for any MMO nowadays, although in fairness FFXIV lacks plenty of industry standards even 10 months after release.

Ughhhh I just realized that Chocobo is still a rental, been playing non-SE MMOs lately where you can summon a mount at anytime and forgot about this archaic system. Anyways, that blows major one. Going to have to talk to stupid NPCs yet again, gg Yoshi P.
Lololol, I don't know how many times this just doesn't get through some people's brains; features that should have been added ages ago took a back seat to what Yoshi wanted to do right away instead. THAT's why it's taking so long, that's why we're only getting parts of them at a time instead of the whole thing in one patch.
Really? How hard is that to grasp? We know Tanaka lied about the state of the game or at least said enough to mislead just about everyone. Let's just get on with it already, we're getting closer to the game we should have had and we were TOLD point blank this is why we're not getting charged to play yet, because it would take some time.
I swear people will still be bringing up old grievances from launch and Tanaka's time 2 years from now...
Excuse me what about griffin towers? Pretty sure most MMOs have rental horses, griffins, whatever or teleports, or both. The personal mounts are coming too. >.>
*throws towel* I'm done. ;P
I'm sorry to point this out to you, but Dynasty Warriors 7 is not an MMO.![]()
Perhaps there's some lore tie-in with Ishgard that's holding up the real chocobo system. Who knows.
In the meantime, rental is fine. However, if in the future, we don't have summonable Chocobos, it will definitely be a reminder of how archaic SE still is. Set in their ways.
It's hard being the voice of reason on a forum with so many old-souls who don't know any better and can't imagine anything better than what they've been fed by SE through FFXI, but there really is a problem with SE if they reproduce the same mount-system they had in FFXI.
for example, in FFXI, even the mounts you owned could only be summoned on a cooldown and for a limited time. It's like, why? SE thinks they understand the art of seduction but they don't come across as mysterious by withholding so much, they just come across as stingy and limiting.
This is all on the proviso that they do indeed reproduce the same mount system from FFXI which im sure they wont. (so no offence SE if you've changed).

They should have been in at release, not an afterthought 1 year later.
If they just add them as rentable mounts in 1.19 then why the fk couldnt they do that a year ago.
It boggles my mind that some of the main things that fans love from the final fantasy games were missing from ff14 at release and still are.....
