Does that mean since I'm a Lalafell I have to ride a dodo?

There is supposed to be a signature here.
Because anima doesn't take you everywhere you want, it takes you to predetermined locations. On a chocobo you can still get somewhere pretty quickly. Say you're in a party but they aren't near a camp. You teleport to the closest camp and then rent a chocobo to ride to your party (that's assuming we'll be able to rent chocobos at camps). That's why we need chocobo rentals. I'd rather have the rentals and wait on the goodies rather than wait on everything especially if they've already finished the idea of the rentals. They're giving us what they can when they can. Just because you don't want to ride around on a chocobo for fun doesn't mean others don't.I never said we're NOT getting the good stuff later, I'm just wondering what all this talk about them being more than mounts was for if when they finally decide to ACTUALLY PUT THEM IN THE GAME... They're just mounts... LIMITED mounts at that.
Then what's the point? Leave anima as is and keep the Chocobos until they're something worth getting excited for, IMO. As they're putting it now I see myself using them twice to hear the chocobo theme and run around for half an hour, then just go back to anima (whatever anima nerf they do it can't be THAT bad).
And the reason all this talk is going around is because WE wanted information so they let us in on their plans. It's better than them keeping quiet about it. Now we at least have something to look forward to in the future.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.

"Why is this game so bland! Where's the FF in 14! I want people running around on horsebirds!"
The part I bolded is a brave assumption. They haven't talked about that but I trust in them that they will allow that because otherwise, as I said, they'd end up being pointless.Because anima doesn't take you everywhere you want, it takes you to predetermined locations. And don't get me wrong I'm glad they came out and told us, but that doesn't mean I can't be dissapointed at the news, mostly because we were told that they weren't there from the start to avoid an implementation as bland as this one. Then they went ahead and did it just to get them in there somehow, which to me shows either lack of originality (they really haven't come up with anything yet so they're just doing what they can) or lack of workforce if it took them this long to implement something as simple as rental mounts.
It shows to me their loyalty to the players by giving us something we need in the game to utilize. And yes, it is a brave assumption, but I don't see them only putting them only in city-states simply because, like you said, they would be useless, which I'll agree is a worry for me.The part I bolded is a brave assumption. I don't think implementing Chocobos into a Final Fantasy game is particularly showing customer loyalty, considering its a FINAL FANTASY GAME and they're implementing CHOCOBOS, not some incredibly new foreign concept we've never heard of before.
Regardless, I hope the "good stuff" comes quick because for me personally a rental mount will get boring fast, really fast.
So they're going to be rentals and just that as far as 1.19 is concerned?
I'm sorry to say but that's just extremely dissapointing... We've been told they weren't in the game at launch because they wanted them to be "more than just mounts" and now that we just might finally get to use them they're gonna be even less than that?
Everything that the original team told us led by Tanaka can effectively be thrown out the window, it holds no water any longer. (NOT implementing things because NOT everything is ready...) Yoshi P doesn't believe in making us wait and is willing to give at least part of the chocobo stuff now. IF it wasn't for the crazy battle and class changes we might already have had them too.

Why does it take so long to put in Rental Chocobos?
