This is really ridicculous.

If you remember they did indeed have something different in mind for it and given that XIV released largely unfinished and needed to be fixed, clearly they weren't going to keep dropping feature after feature into the game.

When the New Managerial Team took over, things changed. We were also supposed to have gotten Hamlet Defense by early 2011, but that changed as well. It's pretty simple really if you took more than a second to think about it,

The development team has changed and the game is failing in case you hadn't noticed. Plans have to change in both those situations.

I would personally be satisfied with using only chocobos as mounts IF they actually gave them different abilities this time around a la FFIV, V, VII, and IX as opposed to just being present in the lore.

IE, give me chocobos that can fly, cross through water, maybe be better suited for certain climates, different abilities like jumping(I would totally be up for chocobo jumping), digging, racing, etc.

They haven't released all the information on Chocobos. Hop off their jock for a second and learn to spell in the meantime.

Well they told us they're going to be just rentals for the time being, which from my POV justifies quite a bit of the complaining (remember, they weren't in the game at launch so they could be "more than mounts").

Yes I know that was said before Yoshi-P came around, but that doesn't mean every piece of work they had done till then was thrown out the window! It's not like he jumped into the office and lit everything on fire so they could start again from absolutley nothing!

To me this either means that Tanaka lied to us in the first place (very likely) OR it was just so far from completion that it actually took them this long just to get some simple rental mounts in. And please, I'm happy we're even getting chocobos but don't tell me a rental mount is worth getting all excited for. It's pretty much the standard for any MMO nowadays, although in fairness FFXIV lacks plenty of industry standards even 10 months after release.

This is when someone says, "Well they made us sit in Jeuno for 5 hours to get our license in 11 they'll probably have something equally boring and not big for this game."

a) I can garauntee they won't recycle this quest for obtaining a chocobo license, if we even get a license to rent chocobos
b) Only a McDonalds employee or someone living off unemployment insurance would have this logic

Maybe you need R50 to rent chocobos?
Maybe you need a high Grand Companies ranking and to kill Ifrit to ride Chocobos?
or Maybe you sit in Ul'dah for 24 hours straight, can't log off or dc, and need to feed a Chocobo a moko grass +3 every minute on the minute or you have to restart from the beginning?

Devs haven't told us everything. We don't know. The guy I quoted shouldn't have speculated. Neither should have you. And riding god damn chocobos isn't god damn gameplay its god damn novelty. If you rent the yellow bird or summon it out your butt hole IT DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE IF THE CORE GAMEPLAY OF FF14 SUCKS, YOUD BE AIMLESSLY WANDERING A GAME THATS GOING TO GET SHUTDOWN; WHICH ISNT THAT SATISFYING.

Wasn't sure if I should go through with posting this or not but after I reread 'this justifies complaining' i went and clicked post. Nothing justifies complaining. It's a video game.

And btw, ffxiv is a product i bought and they opened a forum to hear what their customers had to say hence i've got all the rights to complain. And this is really funny, people that now are saying "stop complaining" have been bitching around in every forum about how they wanted the game to change since the beta started... well i used to defend the game back then, now it's my turn to complain, deal with it >.>
