Can someone explain the classes and the chat system to me

Is there anyone out there who can give me a break down of every class in this game and how to get it.What i am going after is pld so can anyone please tell me what i need to get there and what jobs i should level to use with pld.If something like sub jobs from 11 are in this.

my other question is what are the chat command again i know in 11 it is /say /party /shout and so on did any of that change.I am really mostly wanting to know if the /shout and /yell were changed or not.

I'm not sure on class pre-reqs for the jobs, but I'll tell ya what I know.

PLD: Tank. Need CNJ to 15. Advanced form of GLD. Uses edged weapons and shields. Better at Single target tanking like bosses (IMO).

WAR: Tank. Uses Great Axes. I find them more squishy than PLD, but they have more HP to make up for it. Better at AoE tanking, like trash on the way to bosses (IMO)

WHM: Healer. Advanced form of CNJ. Uses Staves and one handed things. Your sterotypical healer. Has the best form of Protect and Stoneskin.

SCH: Advanced form of ACN. Uses a faerie to help heal and buff. They seem to specialize in wards that absorb dmg rather than just straight healing.

DRG: Damage dealer. Advanced form of lancer. Does not use a wyvern pet. Pretty good DPS if you use your combos effectively.

MNK: Damage dealer. Advanced form of PUG. Specializes in combos by using forms. Dependent on their combos building up. If they are idle too long, their combo fades and they do worse damage.

BLM: Magic Damage dealer. Advanced form of THM. Very good AoE damage dealer. Can tear aggro from the tanks if your blow all your big spells at the start. Gotta know how to ride that aggro threshold.

SMN: Magic damage dealer. Advanced form of SMN. Best DoT job. Weak burst damage, they specialize in DoTs. More effective in longer fights.

BRD: Ranged physical Damage dealer. Advanced from of ARC. Use songs to support party at the cost of own offense. Can do crazy damage if mastered. They are classified as a damage dealer but they use healing Limit break.

The chats are the same as 11. When you get into a free company, to talk, use /fc.

There are no subjobs per se. Classes can learn abilities from the other classes, but they aren't ass effective. Jobs use abilities and traits from their base class (PLD uses GLD skills and traits) and can use select abilities from 2 of it's support class. PLD can use CNJ spells and a couple MRD abilities. Traits are exclusive to the native class. they are not transferable.

Arcanist (ACN) has 2 specs as you can see. They can become both SCH (a healer) and SMN (damage dealer). Note however that when you spend your points, you spend them inyour class, not your job, so if you spend your 20 points in INT, that affects your SCH and your SMN. Both jobs share that bonus so you have to choose which spec you wanna go in. You can also split it between INT and MND. That 20 points doesn't make a huge difference. I spent 20 point in INT and my SCH doesn't seem to suffer for it.

But for the specifics you asked for, there isn't really much of a sub job here. You can use certain cross-class skills from various classes. When you're using a class (e.g., GLA), you're not limited in what other classes you can take skills from. When you're using a job (e.g., PLD), you have two specific classes you can take skills from. For PLD, those classes are Conjurer and Marauder. To unlock the quest that gives you the PLD soul stone, you need to have GLA at 30 and CNJ at 15.

The various chat commands are all listed here. /shout covers an entire zone, while /yell is just like /say with a larger area.

Yes, PLD uses swords/daggers (and shields).

To play a PLD you need lvl Gladiator to 30 and Conjurer to 15.
Then you can cross class some skill from Conjurer and Marauder.

for text commands to chats thats pretty much it

and between shout and yell, shout does send to entire zone.

rather then making a new thread i think asking here would be a good idea.can someone give me a much more in depth idea of how i sell things in 14 like we do in 11 on the auction house.seeing as i just unlocked what would be the auction house on 14 and i do not understand it so can someone explain please.

also can anyone tell me what the time limit between each yell is so that it is not called as spam. in 11 it is something like 2-3mins anyone know the time limit on 14 yet?

At the guild for you main class, after you turn in its lv30 quest, there will be a new quest available to receive the job soul crystal, example: gladiators get the paladin upgrade. To sell things on the marketplace you must hire a retainer, you can find an npc for this in the shopping area of each city, and in your retainer's menu will be the option to sell items on the market at a price of your choosing.

I also was told i messed up the spelled of my last name so wanted to know is there any way to change it or do i need to delete him and remake him i will if i have 2 remake him he is only level 3.

Faster to make a new character as it is only lvl 3.

For gil, you should focus on Main quest and class quests up to your way to 50 for your 1st class.
Quests and dungeons will give you most of the needed items to equip yourself and gil too.

You level way too fast to invest a lot of gils in early levels

Selling stuff is pretty simple. You put stuff from either your inventory or your retainer's up for a price. People can see that price and choose to buy the item(s) or not. If you're selling stacks, they can only buy exactly what you've put up; so it's a good idea to have some idea of the quantities people need of some items. E.g., if you've got 7 of something, it might sell faster as a stack of 5 and 2 individual items than as a stack of 7. And you can generally charge a little more per item for smaller stacks, since people will often buy only what they need. When you go to set the price, there is a little page icon in the upper right of that window that shows the sales history for that item.

For shouts and yells, just be reasonable. Everyone has a different threshold for annoyance, and it also depends on how much else is being shouted/yelled, and how long the thing you're shouting is. "LFM 2xTank Coil T6" only takes up one line and doesn't interfere with other chat too badly. A giant FC recruitment shout that takes up four lines gets in the way and should be throttled a little more.

1. Better than what? You can pick up a gathering class for easy gil. Take the allagan pieces for all your quest rewards. Find stuff on the market boards that's being sold for less than its vendor price. Do leves and/or FATEs. Find stuff you can buy at vendors and sell on the boards for a profit (Y'know, like selling Distilled Water for hundreds apiece on the Jueno AH).
2. Why on earth do you need that much for level 1-10? Stay away from the market board, buy stuff off vendors or get it from quests or just don't bother upgrading anything other than your weapon and offhand (where applicable) because the starting gear is enough up to level 10. You'll want some better gear for dungeons at level 15, but again, vendors.

Edit: Really, early on, it's more about how much you save than how much you make. Look for ways to cut your expenses. Walk when you can stand to. Use Chocobo porters instead of teleports. Check both vendors and the market boards for anything you're thinking about buying; either one might be cheaper depending on what you're after. http://xivdb.com is great for looking up vendor prices and locations. If you've got an FC or LS, it doesn't hurt to check if someone can craft you something for cheap.
