Tips for servers eating skill use/no combos activating/crap servers?

Frequently I'm unable to combo, which means no buffs for me, debuffs for my enemies, as a DRG, latency upwards of 10-20 second lag spikes contribute to many deaths and unplayable instances, and I have to use skills 2-3+ times for them to activate.

I know the SE uses servers that are absolute crap... but is there any way to fix this problem on my end? I have DSL, on PS3 with a 1.5MB/s download speed and wireless connection. I may try a wired connection, although I'm sure that won't improve Square-Enix's quality of service or, in this case, lack thereof.

This is especially murder when I'm a BLM who gets interrupted while using a spell and standing still. More so when I tank.

Anyway, just lookin' for tips 'cuz I'm sure even though SE has 2 million+ subscribers, we won't ever see a portion of that money go towards improving the servers.

You can do one of 2 things
Communicate with your ISP and have them reroute your connection to avoid bad nodes (this probably will be time consuming, frustrating, irritating, a general pain in the ass and a headache to boot)
Subscribe to a ping service like WTFast, Battle Ping, ect. ect. for usually less than $10/month

If you're talking about the lag everyone was getting for the past 10 hours or so, then it means that there are just a lot of players logged into to servers. BUT, if this lag is something that you have had for a long time then this video guide might solve all your problems.
The only part of this video guide that you really need to pay attention to is the first 5 minutes and 30 seconds. the rest of the video has some other valuable information that when precisely applied can profoundly speed up your internet. Although if your only interested in fixing your FFXIV lag the beginning 1/4 of the vid is all you need.

the video dose not mention that you have to restart your computer and modem/router before the registry update takes effect. so please do!
