    1.0 was nigh unplayable at the beginning, but we all buckled down and just tried to enjoy it. As it progressed things became enjoyable. I did enjoy grinding Beastman strongholds with a set of warriors smacking up trains of mobs. What I miss most are the graphics. Just watching rain fall on my character was amazing. Aside from the trials that came incrementally, there honestly wasn't that much else. One might argue the story as they seemed to finally agree the game needed one toward the end of days. I anxiously await the day Yoshi gives us a graphics patch.

    Yeah, as someone who had 6/8 DoH @ 50 at the launch of 2.0 I will admit to hoping that this would discourage people from levelling DoH and leave the market open for established craters like me. Turns out I was right and wrong. Not as many people level DoH as they did in V1, but there's no market for crafting anyway.

    "I Remember" Playlist. This was made back before and during Alpha/Beta of 2.0 with the help of several people from the community. Things we remembered about 1.0 as well as stories from the players themselves about their experiences.

    Thank god I'm not the only person missing 1.0.
    Back then I used to post blogs all over the place informing ppl, showing them where 1.0 shined and where it had potential.

    I have to add too that 1.0 had a feeling when playing the game either solo or in a group. You were immersed in a mysterious world, where as ARR it feels like you're playing Tetris, basically it's just a game.

    Though ARR improved many things 1.0 had broken in it's design, had 1.0 only been redesigned to fix those issues rather than making a whole entire new game that feels more like FINAL FANTASY XIV-2/XVI, etc. The new graphic engine is great, crystal tools sucked, but the vision of what 1.0 could have become died with Tanaka, and that saddens me.

    I miss so much from 1.0
    1- Massive zones
    2- quality animation
    3- open dungeons
    4- unique mob behavior
    5- improvements based on player feed-back
    6- interesting events like Caravan and Hamlet (which could've improved through progression)

    People may have their own opinions about my choice of content but like anything else, who doesn't??

    I still believe 2.0 would've been just as succesful and improving if what I mentioned above was left in the new version(or even some).

    The most interesting and coolest thing about 1.0 was the linkshell crest above my name that I missed the most. SE couldv'e step on their own toes by removing that graphic.

    It's the whole game philosophy that has changed. No more open world. No more alliances outside of instances. No reason to group up outside of instances. No challenges outside of instances. No use for crafters or gatherers in endgame. No need for communication between party members (except in that brief interval between content being released and people being expected to know their role or get kicked).

    1.x didn't fall because its design was flawed. It failed because its execution was. But SE couldn't afford to take the same chances and fall a second time, so they played it safe, made a by-the-numbers MMO and made it well. If only the same care had gone in to version 1.

    You mean like that time in 1.0 beta that everybody told Square that the game was in trouble and it still released with no changes?

    Or that it took until Yoshi took over for anything meaningful to happen?

    Things I miss...
    1. Open ended ability system, being able to "create" your own job (system needed work but the freedom was awesome)
    2. "Recommended" gear requirements, especially on class. You could wear whatever you wanted but there was a cost (once again, freedom was awesome)
    3. The openness of the zones. Yes, they were largely boring, and the current team does an awesome job of making each zone dense with content, but the current world feels... small.
    4. The early 1.0 community (2.0 has attracted some not so great players)

    Things I don't miss...
    1. Performance issues. Even on mid-range gaming pc, I had a hard time running the it at times
    2. Running into Ul'dah and waiting 10-15m for EVERYONE to load into view
    3. Market Wards (could've been a great system but originally poorly designed)
