    Just a month? If they said they were scrapping ARR and going right back to how it was 'pre-Calamity', I would not cry.
    Even with the many improvements to the game that they have made, I still find myself feeling angry and betrayed by ARR.
    People complained about how 'copypaste' the maps were, or more obnoxiously 'copypasta'. How they felt lost because everything looked similar, but I think that was the point. You were supposed to get lost in the Shroud. You were supposed to be able to stand at the top of the cliff in Thanalan and take in the vista to the sea.
    You were supposed to be vomited on by Dodos, because that's how they roll.

    -Map design that didn't have every single POI five steps from each other.

    - Spending more than 30 minutes looking through 100+ lifeless retainers in the 1.00 market wards, hoping to find a belt for my GLA. I never did find one.

    - Having my weapon break after 30 minutes of grinding and having to run back to town and pay 25,000 gil to get it repaired to 50%.

    - Spending 5 minutes to sell the junk out of my inventory.

    - Having to stand in town and shout for 2 hours in the hopes of finding a party for the particular thing I wanted to do.

    I have good memories of the friends I made in 1.0...but almost no good memories about the gameplay itself.

    I needed to laugh, especially when the market ward theme because a haunting memory. I gave up looking through so many retainers to the point I just never went back to MW until it was improved.

    THE LAAAAAAAAG combined made it just... so awful.

    Just reading the earlier posts again and this brought back memories. ^^

    Towards the end of v1 about 100 people on our server got together for revenge to go treant hunting. It was crazy, but fun with everyone just throwing themselves at 2 treants trying to take them down (which we finally did).

    Because you can have huge, expansive environments with sweeping vistas but with repeated textures and few individual landmarks or you can have small, enclosed environments packed full of interesting oddities you can't have both.

    I'll take the former over the latter any day. I do not find everything being five steps from each other to be conducive to portraying an expansive world at all.
