Run Run Run 9999 damage? WTF????? Oh you treant lol.

When I was playing ARR beta, I was still scared of even the low level treants just outside Grid.

Just reading the earlier posts again and this brought back memories. ^^

Towards the end of v1 about 100 people on our server got together for revenge to go treant hunting. It was crazy, but fun with everyone just throwing themselves at 2 treants trying to take them down (which we finally did).

    I remember when...

    - ...there was light attack and heavy attack.
    - ...archers had to actually get into range to attack, otherwise they just stood there, even when the mob was standing next to you.
    - ...if you took a wrong turn in a beginner zone, you nearly crapped yourself because a level 99 mob was staring at you in the face.
    - ...you chocobo'd past a level 99 drake only to die around the corner because it spat at you sometime 1 minutes ago.
    - ...Wild Boars had true sound so you couldn't sneak past them.
    - ...only a handful of people had Relic Weapons.
    - ...there was the fatigue system.
    - ...Aureum Vale was just one poisonous clouded zone and there were only pockets of safety.
    - ...you had to have a full pt of 6 to get your final AF armor piece.
    - ...trying to get to Good King Moggle Mog Instance was terrifying and deadly.
    - ...storyline quests (United We Stand, To Kill a Raven) royally kicked your @$$.
    - ...all everyone ever killed were squirrels along the main road.
    - ...Sposhae existed.
    - ...Grand Company gear actually meant something.

...more memories than I can post...but alas...all a memory. Happy to be here though. ^^d

Sorry for double posting, wanted to add onto here but kinda went a bit lazy and decided to make a new post in regards to this.

I wanted to laugh when you mentioned the archer thing. I definitely laughed when I blanked out at nights when exhausted, so I would scream, "WHY CAN'T I KILL ANYTHING! AHHH!!!"

Relic Weapons... oh man they were so hard to get. I didn't even try in the end, because of having really cruddy luck on materia...

Back when you'd not only lose the materia, you'd lose the weapon. Which meant a potential 4 mil down the drain and you wanted to scream at the SE gods.

I thought it was 8 though for the final job quests.

Oh with the BRD final job quest was a pain in the ass. When it was on two elevations...

    OH!

How can anyone forget the lack of jumping!?

I actually kind of miss having to find a full party to start instances... Sure, it was a pain in the ass at times, but it also created.... comradery, in a way.
I made so many friends just pugging for moogle or ifrit.

I also miss my old linkshell buddies, but that has nothing to do with changes with the game, just personal choices.
Well, maybe slightly to do with changes, since my old server became a JP server.

    I miss Coerthas.
Knock the so called copy pasta all you want, and yeah, there was a lot of that in the 1.0 world, but the little parts of it that were finished and not copy pasta were so memorable, and i suppose Coerthas and Mor Dhona were by far the more finished regions. The truth is that no experience for me in 2.0 so far is as memorable as my first trip to the edge of 'The Lance'. I know, it was just an 'empty area', but that's not the point. It was 'The Lance' *stare* you know?

I'm happy we're here, and i know that 2.0 is for the best and i am looking forward to a lot of things, but i really truly miss 1.x
It's not just Rose Colored Glasses. If you add up every little 'finished' hamlet in the 1.x overworld and rubbed out the copy pasta parts it would still be as big or bigger than the current world and it was just full of such fantastic art design that it can never be forgot. I used to get lost for hours exploring.

    It was good.
    And that's the truth.
    Despite all its terrible flaws,
the good parts of 1.x were damn good.
Some things the kind of good that 2.x hasn't been able to touch yet.

I never played 1.x, but somehow watching those videos gives ME nostalgia.
