Never played it, but watching a few videos makes me want the original skill animations, they look awesome!
I'd want the massive over world areas, but I keep hearing that they're a little empty.

It depends on who you talk to. If you're talking to the level 15 new guy trying to make it to a new camp, it was sprawling with EXP, danger, and competition for claims to finish a quest.
If you were max level 50 with no quests left to do you just saw nothing but low level trash everywhere and nothingness
If you are talking about end content on the other hand. Yes it was abysmal

I miss having to run the game at medium settings because... there was no reason for it. I could run Skyrim at max settings but I try that with XIV 1.# and I'd be running around with the worst graphical lag. Especially in the cities. And then there was the character culling. You think Odin is bad, 1.# was worse and wasn't limited to just players. For all the 'good' of 1.#, the bad had the power to render the game unplayable.

*hugs Talia* I'll edit with more later but I miss epic fights with random people who become friends you never forget!

Keith Dragoon - Ambassador of Artz and Adorable

I will add more later but OMG that makes me want to cry so much ;-; I miss that!
P.S.S.
I remember trying to get that stupid win for Jasin. Took a total of 80 + attempts, despite me going with my LS for my first time and got it after 3 attempts. Oh those were the days...
I can't tell if I miss that or not. XD

C'est Vie ou Mort!

5 major things i miss on top of the ones mentioned.
1. the vastly superior way the 1.x controller was setup to run on the mouse and keyboard bars with FULLY customizable keys. it was vastly superior to the current hotbar we have with a controller in many ways.
2. incaps that actually had meaning. things like incapping the horn of the great buffalo before there was a chance to have the horn drop. even just the visual incaps were amazing. hit buffalo with flashfreeze and watch it fall on its face, hit a toad and flip it upside down, take a skele's head completely off for the eyepatch.
3. why oh why did they destroy coerthas? especially the area around camp glory. there were many days i just sat on the lake southwest of glory fishing because it was one of, if not the, most beautiful places in any game made. now it's a stupid barren wasteland covered in that cold white stuff.
4. going out to challenge difficult mobs in the open world just because i could do it solo and have some of the best times ever. how many went and solo'd dodore, bloatbelly, and elder mosshorn nm's? it was so much fun to go out and claim those high level mobs and not have to worry about everyone and his brother coming to "help". it was the challenge i loved and even things like redrip ogre, the banemites, and the goblin that were all lvl99 you would go with a group and down them.
5. the biggest thing i miss about the game is the original thm. between the movement while casting, the elemental wheel, the aoe toggle switch, and the superior quantity and quality of the skills you had made the original thm vastly superior to the static fire spamming blm we have in game now.

I wondered about that too. I actually remember being so for the wintry change in Coerthas, but now I look back at it and wished it was like 1.0 Coerthas again. I think it's just the lack of an area that looks like Coerthas. I hope they do create an area similar again.
Other things:
How Dalamud appeared menacing in the sky.
When I appeared drunk in my own inn room after a night at the bar with my buddies.
When lightning and camera and such were just... awe-inspiring.
Ishgard! I missed being able to get closer shots like this.
When Mor Dhona seemed so vast and unexplored in the horizon.

i always felt that 1.0 coerthas is what gridania should have been on release instead of the jumbled maze it was. coerthas was a big open forest. it had trees, lakes, nice views, rivers, and wild animals. it had some of the most beautiful views i have seen in any game.I wondered about that too. I kinda wish we still needed items to enter primal fights, like Inferno Tapers, Keystones and Vortex Headdresses rather than the instant entry we have now.
Also remember the treants, remember forgetting to walk past them and PINECONE BOMB!!!!

Ahahahah! I remember that. That was the most fun ever. And probably enraging too! I remember just casually walking by and dying to a treant anyway because it had no other reason.
Was such a badass treant.
Then I loved going with friends to go NM hunting. I can do the same with FATEs but for some reason no one wants to do them with me anymore.
There was a lot more that put people together. That I do remember. Like going out farming for the key items for primal entering with friends.
Also, you could enter Moggle Mog, but you wouldn't get anything out of it if you didn't have keystones.
That's another thing. Moggle Mog was like the most farmed thing in the century and everyone went at it for such a long while just to get the goodies. 48 wins with no spear drop back then
Now hardly anyone wants to do it ;-;
Also: Cassiopeia Hollow. Please tell me people remember this XD
