    Tanks and Provoking

Please stop using it to open fights. Its stupid.

Using it for Range is one thing, initiating a fight with it is another.

Same goes for immediate spawn of CT Skeletons.

If you remember what CT is.

    Explanation:

Provoke does not grant additional threat. It copies the amount of threat that the player who has the most threat on the targeted monster does, +1. There is a great range on it so it is useful for pulling enemies out of an otherwise hazardous zone or to lower the amount of enemies encountered in a battle because they are not linked to the enemy you have Provoked, but using it to initiate combat where a line of sight pull is not necessary does nothing but hurt your group.

I know I use provoke for ranged WAR pulls, but I then tomahawk when the mob is in range.

You have to still hit the mob once ya have aggro. TMYK.

I use it as snap agro, right when add spawn and I'm stuck between GCD. it only 1 agro but it enough get add attention for a second then I can follow up w/ Lob after.

Long range pull is useful as well

anyone uses ANY skill or any hots tick and its not on you anyways, just wait the 1sec, shieldlob/tomahawk and then if it wasnt enough to actually have hate use provoke... 9/10 if your group mates doing their jobs provoke pull will fail. and second, scripted fights, you know when adds coming, you shouldn't be waiting on GCD. I always laugh in levi at all the pld who pull adds with provoke and they always end up on the healer or dps, yet mine with tomahawk never go to anyone but me.

You are probably MT and your DPS are going ballsdeep in the OTs add. If one Tomahawk is locking down the first targeted add (OT) then you DPS are weak. I alway OT on PLD for the stuns but my order is Lob,Voke,Lob if they pop on the other side of the map and continue running away from me. Otherwise its Lob,SW,FB,CoS,SB,RoH. Provoke is off the GCD as Remn mentioned pretty silly not to use.

In addition to the sentiments above, if you can wait about 2 seconds, for the Medica II or regen to tick, you can get a little extra hate through provoke before shield lob. Think of it as off-CD 20-100 hate that you didn't have before. It is also helpful to get your name and position on the map on its hate IMMEDIATELY so that it doesn't run to the healers, stop, then run to you, as DRG and MNK (and even BLM sometimes) will have a hard time doing maximum dps to the add if it is moving around. Not just from not being able to complete an ability, but from positional checks as well.

Provoke in this situation will snap the mobs attention faster than shield lob/tomahawk, NOT using an off-GCD, long range skill that will increase your hate by even 20 before using an ON GCD, mid-range skill is a waste of that Provoke key on your hotbar in this situation, as you will not need it again before its CD is up.

Being skilled is not only knowing the script of the fight and executing your job but knowing how your skills interact with the current and subsequent portions of the fight.

As stated its useful for long range pulls just follow it up with lob once the mob is in range.

Just so im not misleading, enemies who spawn with Definite aggro to a certain player (Garuda ex Spiny) you still want to Provoke. You also want to follow with at least 1 Tomahawk/Shield Lob. I say at least 1 because if the original target is healing themselves in any sort of way, they will still build aggro
