Hi Rukkirii,

Great interview and great job presenting a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Yoshida-san. There are definitely some encouraging bits of news from the interview.

This was definitely a highlight. Re-confirming the major map revamp (from the "1 to 50 Zone" Thread). And it's good that he "gets it": That he wants to see memorable landmarks and locales just like we're looking for.

Yoshida: That would be our new 'conductor' plan. The point of our discussions is to consider fundamental revisions such as how characters access each part of the game content and how they develop after they're created, the level they need to reach to obtain mounts, etc. We're also planning the mount system based on this idea so I suppose this 'conductor' approach is our current hottest topic.
This is another great bit of news that FF14 currently is sorely lacking: The pacing of the game. In FF XI, there was a sense of pacing, going from your starting city (Windy, Sandy, Bastok) and earning a Chocobo License. And doing a quest to unlock your Sub-Job. Progressing to Jeuno. Airship Pass Quest, so you can use them. Gaining access to Yuhtunga Jungle. Sky. Sea, etc.

It's encouraging news to hear that they want to develop some of this with their Conductor Plan. So adventurers starting out might earn a Chocobo License by a certain Rank (something to look forward to and strive towards), and hopefully pace out more of the game this way.

Thanks again Rukkirii, and hopefully we get more interviews with the FF14 Team from time-to-time.
