A few tips if you don't mind

I'm also on PS4. Communication is an issue. Even with a keyboard, I'd have to set my controller down to type. Not the best idea during fights. It helps to find others also on PS4 so you can use the voice chat.

There is a lot of good advice in this tread. So I will try not to repeat what others have said!

Two things I tell newbie players who join my FC (or if they don't join it and we happen to be chatting) on Goblin Server is that firstly, they should play what they love.
If you don't like the class/job you're playing then don't play it. Find one that you do like and have fun with it!
In my experience in MMO's, people will sometimes try to be helpful to the FC/Guild/etc by playing a class that is "needed". However, they may not necessarily like that class but they continue to play it because they think they are being helpful by playing "what is needed" but.... that almost always it leads to resentment. (Unless of course, you do enjoy playing said class)
Play what you love. A good FC will work with you.

Secondly, I tell al new members is to play at their pace.
There is no rush to the end. Take your time and enjoy the storyline, the scenery, side quests, etc.
Alternatively, if your pace is to rush to the end then go for it.
Whatever you do, just make sure you are happy with it.

Other than that.... I'd have to say remember to be kind and courteous to the players you run into.
I know that we all have our off days and that sometimes you meet players that are jerks. At that point, just distance yourself from them and don't let them ruin your playtime.
Lastly, communication is key.
It's important to communicate with your LS/FC/PT members. Sometimes that can be difficult since this game doesn't really encourage typing when in dungeons/primals/etc.

I got a really nice logitech wireless keyboard at Target for $20. Not super cheap but the other ones I saw were around $40 or $50 so it seemed like a good idea. So far it's worked great!

Any cheap USB keyboard should do.
5-20$ keyboard will usually be within most budgets. Do some shopping around if you are able to.

Personally, I enjoy the wireless keyboards but they are known to be a bit more expensive. For me,the less wires I have to deal with the better.

If you're getting a wired USB keyboard, you may want to pay attention to how long the cable is. I use this Logitech one:

It's just a regular USB Keyboard except that its USB cable is 8 feet long (which is useful when dealing with TV to couch distances rather than PC to desk distances).

Otherwise, you can find wireless ones as well, which avoid that concern.
