Remembering It's a Game

You know, the more and more I get into FFXIV it seems with both the community attitude sometimes, and some of the monotonous quests, the feeling of general "fun" can sometimes wane in the shadow of "progression". But last night I was reminded how this game is such a wonderful experience.

I needed to run Sunken Temple for my quest involving moving the Scions to Mor Dohna. I had a few friends of my small FC online, the four of us together being a DRG, SCH, MNK, and me as a SMN. We decided "screw it, lets go for it and use Titan-Egi as the tank". None of us had overly high hopes of completing the dungeon under such silly circumstances, all of us betting where we'd wipe and be done. Surprisingly enough, our one and only wipe was on the "Temple Guardian" and we completed the dungeon. But the best part of the experience was the laughter and the jokes we shared via Skype while we ran the dungeon. Our Lalafel DRG is a notorious troublemaker in games in the most comedic of senses, often running into an area yelling "I'M GOING! IT"S BEEN AN HONOR SERVING WITH YOU!" I haven't laughed that hard and had that much fun with the game in a while.

Just wanted to give a massive shout out and thanks to all the guys in the PGS Corps for reminding me of the fun in this game!

me and my friends do similar things. i have found skype to be the more fun oriented voice chat, while ts3 and vent or mumble for "hardcore". the coil group i was in for a good 4 months had a saying; "come on shiney, get it together" because or whm Shiney Shadow would sometimes pull hate from the tanks. our blm Pink Fox was lucky with coil drops, and was the first of us to get full allagan gear, and made it hard for tanks to keep hate with his double flares, and his response was always sarcastic.

Back in 2.0 (before the WAR changes) we ran a Wanderer's palace with 3 WARs and a SMN. In each group of 3 mobs, one WAR would tank one mob, and the SMN would DoT them all via Bane. On bosses we would provoke-trade the boss when our Inner Beasts/CDs were down.

It was absolutely hilarious and awesome!

The other night I joined up with a random pf group for brayflox runs. One the first run, the tank and healer started off fighting even before the first pull (do your job kind of stuff). Then, after the first pull, we wiped. Then the ridicule really started in between the tank and healer, and the other dps started getting into it. All I could think was, "Good Lord, finish this run and then I am outta here." However, by the end of the run things smoothed out and we finished. Just out of interest, I checked these guys out before disbanding, and it turns out they were all in the same FC. What looked like harassment was actually just friends being friends! (If you can't ruthlessly insult your friends, who can you? ) I ended up running several more instances with them, laughing the whole time at their endless banter at each other.

I quite often join CM and Praetorium just to make sure that new peeps in it will have one of their most unforgettable and if possible positively silly experience ever <3

We do something very similar with our crazy lalafel DRG, with every time he does something outrageous or silly in a dungeon, the entire Skype chat says in unison "who else but Kasek?" The game really seems to shine when you have friends to voice chat with. One of our new favorite pastimes is getting on top of the light posts in Mor Dohna while we are waiting for DF and then /laughing at everyone trying to figure out how we got up there and jumping around like crazy.

Well, I'll tell one of mine too then ^^

The other day I was chilling in the garden of my FC house with my friends when suddenly a lot of crazy people started to cast all AOE they had, making quite the ruckus, we went to check and it turned out to be members of Cookie Monsters, one of the biggest FC in grids 1ward of moogle, who also happen to be our neighbors.
They were storming in all the houses of the ward and do their crazy thing with an army of carbuncles following them xD
We ended up following them too and joined their crazy AOE rave party :3
I'm glad our house is closed to other, my ps3 would have frozen otherwise xD
