    Subligaria Commentarius

I just wanted to give a thumbs-up to the localization folks on using the proper plural form of "Subligar" -- I was searching in the market wards one day, and was pleasantly surprised to see it ask me if I wanted to stop searching for "Leather Subligaria".

I know I'm a horrible nerd and it's a little thing, but considering that I was being told for the longest time that I was earning "bonus" experience, I was impressed to see this!

Wait until you see the plural of Macuahuitl!

Because the plural form of items (especially non-stackable ones) is rarely ever seen in FINAL FANTASY XIV, we decided that we would have some fun, and opted to use "authentic" spellings whenever possible. This mostly pertains to Latin words (gladius -> gladii, scutum -> scuta), but every now and again we'll get a doozy like Macuahuitl.

That said, this doesn't mean we've abandoned our good friend the "s." You'll still find him bringing up the rear on 99% of our items' plural forms.

    Dear, The Twelve,
    Please, let it be "Macuahiti."

It's Macuahuimeh. Checked the Market Wards over it just now. If I'm not mistaken though, they're a sort of Wooden Aztec (or at least stone-age) sword with micro-blades made from flint or obsidian inserted into grooves carved along the edges... And of course, if a blade ever got dull, you popped it out, and replaced it with a new one as the main part of the weapon lasted for a few years.

I'll need to get my Introduction to Biological Anthropology notes out later... I forget when those things came along in human evolution and culture...

Definitely Aztec, and the rest of that sounds accurate to me.

I also refuse to type/say that word. I have enough issues with Quetzlcoatle (sp?) that I've basically given up on Aztec. Besides, most of the people I talk to in my LS just call them "ass paddles" anyway.

As a native Kiwi, you can imagine my disappointment to discover that they were not, in fact, cricket bats...
