    Can someone help me with macros?

    Hello!

    I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to help walk me through setting up some macros, that or send me a link to a helpful place where I can teach myself. I searched google for a short while, but didn't find anything too helpful and it mostly left me confused haha!

    I play a 50 DRG and I'd like to set up a macro for a few skills I want to just go after one another.

    Also if its possible I'd like to know how to set macros for gathering (BTN) and crafting (CRP).

    If anyone is willing to help a guy out I'd really appreciate it!

    Those types of Macros (For Dragoon) don't work all that well, and will actually hinder you since you can't set fractions of a second for wait times.

    It would depend on what you want to macro(s) to do, please elaborate.

    I've only recently started using macro's. Not for combos, as imo macro'ing those together is a bad idea, but more so for saving space. Problems of a console gamer ;o

    Stacking defensive & damage buffs is handy. You can set it up to use only one buff at a time or to activate them all/both, like B4B and Internal Release.

    I found this link useful for how to set them up
    http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...ed_macro_tips/

    Haven't done many macro's for crafting. Mainly just the initial buffs I use lol

    As DRG I just want a small macro like:

    Power Surge and then Jump

    or

    Heavry Strike and then Blood for Blood

    as an example for DRG. For gathering I would just like to be able to target a point, and let it out "auto-gather", or set some easy one cor CRP when I want to make low level stuff that doesnt need my attention.

    And that's the problem. Even with power surge being instant, there's a short period where you can't jump. So the macro either has to wait a full second(and you can't do anything during that second) or you make it so you have to spam the button til jump happens. If Power Surge is on CD, it would jump though.

    For gathering, you can't do that, sorry. Crafting, you still have to start each craft and hit the macro, plus it depends on what you want the macro to do(ie HQ or not) and if HQ, it depends on your skills, CP, etc.

    It's important to remember that you HAVE to have a wait in your macros, this might not be ideal for you so consider it carefully;

    I really DO NOT recommend doing these, it's much better for you to click/select/press these actions and then the corresponding buttons on your own as you won't have to then wait for the 1.3-2 second gap between them.

    /ac "Powersurge" <me> <wait.1>
    /ac "Jump" <t>
    ---------
    /ac "Heavy Thrust" <t>
    /ac "Blood for Blood" <me>
    ---------

    There are no auto-gathering macros (however you might want a macro for your gathering buffs just use the;

    /ac "Ability name" <me> <wait.1>
    /ac "Ability name" <me> <wait.1>

    However for crafting, for example when I make food on Culinarian;

    /ac "Inner Quiet" <me> <wait.2>
    /ac "Great Strides" <me> <wait.2>
    /ac "Steady Hand II" <me> <wait.3>
    /ac "Advanced Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /ac "Standard Synthesis" <me> <wait.3>
    /ac "Advanced Touch" <me><wait.3>
    /ac "Advanced Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /ac "Basic Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /ac "Advanced Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /ac "Hasty Touch" <me> <wait.3>
    /ac "Careful Synthesis II" <me>
    I use the following to pretty much guarantee (for me) a 100% HQ item.

    However, each crafting class has its own abilities, depending on what you have leveled you might have;

    "Waste Not" or "Piece by Piece" which are more sensible and beneficial to use.

    Basicly you're macroing what you do normally and just pressing a button to let it do it for you, so craft an item

    (MAKE SURE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE CONDITION, if you get an 'Good/Excellent' quality boost, your synth isn't going to be your average synth so consider this went testing your average rotation)

    ALWAYS OVER COMPENSATE
    Use every last drop of durability you have increasing the quality even if it gets 100% BEFORE you use it, there's an off change you might get a 'Poor' condition or a failed action so compensating for these is important.

    Macro Icon

    Another usefull thing is; /macroicon "Ability Name"

    What this does is, the macro icon will take into account let say for example 'Provoke's icon AND its cooldown timer;

    /macroicon "Provoke"
    /ac "Provoke" <t>
    /p <se.10> Provoking <t> !
    With the first line, the icon will now have the original provoke icon along with the cooldown timer (where-as without /macro icon "Provoke" there would be no visible cooldown timer on the icon)

    As you can see with the image below the Alt+2 button I have has no /macroicon, therefore it has no cooldown where as Ctrl+2's provoke has /macroicon;

    Regarding the above, using wait on combat macros is a bad idea usually, waiting 1 second is usually too long and a hindrance, or you hit something else and the macro fails on the second part. The second macro has to be hit twice, since it cannot do both at the same time.

    As for the crafting one, you have to know how much CP you have, what skills, etc. Macros will change based on those things.

    I do not play a dragoon, but have macroed 5 other jobs.
    • Instant abilities have 1s long animation, so insert /wait 1 between them.
    • Target types:
      • undefined (same as if you just press the skill);
      • <t> - your target;
      • <tt> - target's target;
      • <mo> - mouse over.
    • /macroicon "Skill Name" sets specified skill icon and cooldown + cost values.
    • Writing in chat (<se.1-16> are sound signals):
      Code:
      /p Message <se.1>
    • You can include <t>, <me> and the rest in chat messages, including emotes.
    • If you specify ability in your message - use tab when typing to make it cross-language.
    • Some skills scale together well, like Fight or Flight and Bloodbath:
      Code:
      /macroicon "Fight or Flight"
      /ac "Fight or Flight"
      /wait 1
      /ac "Bloodbath"
    • /mk attack, /mk ignore and /mk bind allow to mark targets incrementally (no need to specify 1,2,3 etc).
    • Using macros for dps rotation makes you loose 0.5s on 2 skills combo and 1s on 3 skills combo. This is not as bad as people say because can be used during atma grind (you press 1 button and can chat for a while) and for classes that don't have a fast resource recovery (WHM, WAR, PLD, etc).
    • Some skills have a reason to be macroed, but some don't. Reason to macro would be multiplicative scaling and sharing a similar cooldown. Reason not to macro would be skills not scaling together (why macro two defensive buffs if they probably work incrementally) or having different cooldown times (why trigger both buffs if you may need to save the longer one for later).
