Tank outdpsing All 4 DPS possible while doing job?

I ran into something of a big meanie lol in a party finder, who was a tank. He did his job fairly well but did screw the party over a bit in Titan ex. We were doing excellent with no echo buff our first group but healer made a mistake (might've even lagged as I experienced a lag spike but still managed to survive) and we didn't have trouble with gaols or heart or anything...our DPS was pretty great.

After the healer died the tank (belonging to an elitist FC) said he had the highest DPS and exited the fight.

I was just curious, how possible is it that a tank would be able to outDPS the entire group (not combined just the highest individual group) while still tanking? Or was this guy just lying?

They went in expecting an instant win. When they didn't get their way they ragequit. That's what I took from it anyway. I wasn't there obviously, but I'd guess the rest of the group was fine by the sounds of it. Just another elitist expecting perfection is all.

Bingo. And if he was top dps, I highly doubt any group would be able to break the gaols or heart.

Only way a tank is going to out-DPS four damage dealers is if all 4 DPS were afk or dead. He was just mad.

I'm pretty sure that's the case. I have had bad experiences with the FC he is from in the past back in 2.0, and apparently a lot of my links hells and other friends have had similar experiences. I'm almost certain he was lying but it still just makes me curious if it is at all possible. He didn't even retry with echo buffs XD (which I know are not reliable, but just a small boost, and we were doing well enough not to need them).

He just wanted to get in your head and mess with you, seems like it worked. I wouldn't worry about it, guy was just upset or whatev

I am just asking because I was kind of scared I was playing my job wrong XD I've been doing it so long and it made me question my ability to do so but thanks for the reassuring answers

I reported him for suspicion of such and even though I wasn't really hurt by what he said he could've easily hurt others so I did mention his behaviour. I felt bad about reporting him since I've never done that before but if anything using parsers is illegal so there is that.

My DD geared tank can hold up towards 250 dps in DD gear. He really could have been. I doubt he was doing more, but he could have.

I can't say if you are doing your job wrong or not, but if there is even a chance you think you are doing something wrong, maybe you should read the rotation thread and/or work on rotation, because thats something I almost never have to wonder as a DD.
