    BSOD 124

ok i am almost ready to give up and ask steam for a refund as i keep getting a BSOD error 124 within 1 to 10 mins of playing the game:

    specs:
    win 7 64bit ultimate
    amd phenom ii 945 3ghz
    8gb corsair ram
    nvidia geforce gtx 550 ti
sound is via the video cards hdmi connection with built in sound card disabled

    tried:
    updated os
    updated all drivers including bios
stress tests on CPU, GPU and RAM with no errors found

anyone got any ideas? no issue with any of the latest games on full settings!

    an interesting update:

i ruled out hardware issues so have been playing about with different graphic settings, this is starting to get interesting....

it seems there is some kind of incompatability with my 550ti and ffxiv:

    in game:
when i switched to desktop standard settings no BSOD 124 error
when i switched to desktop high settings BSOD 124 error within seconds

time to play about with the settings and work out which/what combination is causing this.

    edit:

ok, so if at the menu i set to desktop high and turn off "Screen Space Ambient Occlusion" i appear to no longer get BSOD error 124.

will play for a while now that it appears to be stable and see what happens, if this works i will try ramping up gfx settings while keeping that off and see if it is the main cause.
