I've never once seen echo used in this way. On the other hand, the Echo buff has also never made the difference for any of my groups, not even once.

It's not the whole game, just the old content.. and nothing is stopping you from making your own PF group/turning off the echo buff/leaving the terrible group. Honestly who cares? This isn't an issue
The only way stacking echo in fights like titan hm could help, is that it makes it easier to carry even 4 unskilled players that fell down.
I believe it increases your damage so it helps breaking the heart, and increases healing potency so it helps heal the party through the repeated stomps etc.
I usually introduce myself to not work with that mechanic, "sabotaging" groups who are wiping on purpose, even before they try ...
I´m fine if it enables undergeared Groups to get around content, I hate those Content-Wall´s myself, but dying without trying is a no-go, and i won´t participate and encourage ppl to this.

This is exactly my gripe with what is going on with echo. I'm all for buffing groups who legitimately try and need the boost, but every now and then (thankfully it's not more widespread), there's that one group who thinks echo is an auto-win mechanic and without even trying, intentionally wipe, and then pull a "if we can't clear at max echo, we'll never clear" and bail on the first and only "real" attempt. How anyone can expect to improve their own play when they rely on echo to carry their facerolling is beyond me. Try people, please. You're never going to get better otherwise.
If I got one gil for every time I heard, "lol whatever we got echo now" after a wipe, I'd buy out the entire market board.

and people wonder why this community is so bad. people play a different way and they harass them because of it. don't like it leave take the penalty.I usually introduce myself to not work with that mechanic, "sabotaging" groups who are wiping on purpose, even before they try ...

No time for statics? In my raid all ppl are busy in rl(job,gf/bf/married/sons) and we can play together to do endgame, we are at t7(we are going slowly than expected, we had some issues). Its true that we could go faster with more time but we enjoy endgame without problem.I'm pretty much done with end game in FFXIV:ARR for this reason. The community in general isn't as skilled as Yoshida's content demands that they be. On top of which, there are a number of highly skilled players who are stuck because they do not have the time to form statics like they did 5 or 10 years ago. ....
T1-4 was hard witih ilvl 70-75, now with ilvl 90+ is very easy. Echo buff is for "old" content, for ppl that couldnt beat it before and for new ppl. T5 is still hard to do it with randoms, echo helps a lot but if ppl dont know tactic they will wipe.
That's kind of how it evens itself out. Echo helps loosen the exact precision necessary to complete the content it's involved in. Echo stacks means that if you were struggling to get Titan's Heart before (or you had a DPS that enjoys falling) you are more likely to clear it; echo stacks means that the high damage helps you survive AoEs. It doesn't mean you get to just ignore core mechanics, mind you - even if there was a 5x echo buff on Crystal Tower for instance, you could still wipe in no time to things like Ecliptic Meteor if you're not trying; but you'll be a little less endangered from lesser mechanics, be a little less scared of DPS checks, etc.
It's not a free pass through content, and it shouldn't ever be - but it helps people all the same.
