Leviathan Ex Weapons screw over Paladins & White Mages

I'm not sure if there's a thread about this already but every class only needs 1 mirror to upgrade their leviathan weapon....except White Mage and Paladin.

For whatever reason, they now need TWO mirrors while everyone else can walk away with an ilvl 100 weapon after just one.

How is this fair to those classes? If anything this would discourage white mages and paladins from doing this fight unless they are farming weapons for their sub classes. The mirror should upgrade both the shield and weapon for them or if you cannot do this, then just give White Mages 2 handed weapon drops to begin with and allow paladins to upgrade via Soldiery or something.

Please SE reconsider the Leviathan mirror system for those 2 classes.

Yes, but you get a bear/lion after running it the prerequisite 200 times to get a mirror so that's something right?

Seriously though. I understand and think that it seems a little crazy, but you'll probably get your Atmis shield first which is better and only requires two books (+4-400 hours of FATE grinding).

From a completion stand point (for one class) it's pretty grindy.

I am not a WHM or PLD main, but totally agree. You guys have my condolences. Please work out a better system SE. The mirror drop rate is already abysmal. Requiring two for a job is silly to say the least.

Wow, that sucks. I'm still busy grinding out myth and books for paladin. I haven't even attempted Leviathan Ex because I really don't have time to do both.

That's what I heard as well but basically this now turns off paladins (which are really important in one of the mechanics for the fight) from bothering to farm this thing

Well...honestly, upgrading the Shield and Buckler is a waste of Mirrors.

Upgrading to the Tidal Buckler gives 1 VIT, 1 MND, 1 PIE and 2 Accuracy, whereas the Tidal Shield gives only 1 STR and 1 VIT.

Is that really worth spending a Mirror on?

You upgrade the weapons primarily for the weapon damage, which is the same increase for all classes; the difference between the swords is *weapon damage* and 2 STR/VIT and 1 SS/Parry, and the Wands have a difference of *weapon damage* and 2 MND/VIT, 1 Crit/SS (don't have the difference in Weapon Damage on hand, but shields don't give any at all, so its moot)


All other classes have *weapon damage* and 3 Attributes/1 secondary differences; so you're only missing 1 STR/VIT/MNK out of it all, which honestly is pretty much nothing.

well i totally agree with you, my main is PLD. it not really fair for us to have to farm for 2 mirror. I plan on using Levi weapon and shield untill i get the i110 and allagan shield form turn 8. (dont feel like weasting my myth on book yet, when their still myth market. ) Hope SE do something aobut this.

Can't say what the WHM shield is like but the Holy Shield Animus is by far the easiest item to reach Animus on (2 books compared to 9) and is better than the Tidal Wave Shield.

You are missing the whole point.. BOTH should be upgraded with one. You are justifying them getting less stats because if the weapon is upgraded, you get the same weapon damage. This still leaves them without ilvl 100 stats that any other job would otherwise have. Getting one mirror is ridiculous enough, expecting them to waste 2 (when they most likely have other classes to spend it on as well) on essentially one upgrade is dumb.
