...and smart phones outclass each other every month. Where is the basis? I Like consoles because I know I'm getting a quality game without the hassle of manually installing and making sure the software works, assuming it passes the benchmark. Plus I don't have to wait 1-never months just to play a game when it releases and I don't have to spend over 1k just to make sure I get the best possible experience.

That doesn't negate my comment that the PS4 in OPs room is hardly "the future." You are perfectly entitled to being satisfied without "the best possible experience." I'm not suggesting that. Just correcting the notion that dated hardware in a shiny box is "the future."

Cause you can't just use televisions as monitors, and obviously only consoles can generate 7.1.
