Question about the psychical game.

I pre-ordered the game on the 10th so I could get the early access, and I've been playing since the 11th up till now. I got an email a few days ago saying that SE shipped my game, what I'm curious about is, since I'm playing right now, what do I need the actual disk for, if anything? Once I receive my game, could I give it to a friend if I wanted? Or is there something that I need it for?

like most games now a days, there are digital copies available. Diablo 3 for example. When you buy the game in the store, all you're really paying for is the code to be able to play it. You can always go to the website and download it.

So I essentially bought early access and the game client, and they threw in the disk. So since there's nothing I actually *need* it for, I could give it to my friend if I wanted to. He's looking to get the game, and his birthday is coming up soon.

As side note if you give the disk to another person once it is installed it will require a license key that you already used(or will use if you haven't received your physical copy yet). So no use unless he buys it.

You got early access code (probably extended to be sure all pre-orders receive their copy like it was at launch of the game)
In Physical box you will get your final license key.

Like Thaliss said, you'll need the license code from your physical box to continue playing after your early access runs out, which will be a couple of days after launch. You don't need the disk though because you already have the client. The disk itself is useless without the code though so gifting it to a friend doesn't allow him to play.

You could share the disk with your friend just to save him the time to download it if he's buying the digital version himself, but that's the only thing the disk itself is good for — to save a bit of time downloading. It does not give access to the game. Only purchasing it gives access to the game. The code in the game box is your proof that you purchased it. One purchase and one code gives only one of you access.
