Audio problems with opening movie

So some of my friends came over to my place, and wanted to see FFXIV. I tried playing the opening movie for them, but the audio in the movie doesn't play properly at all! What happens is that all the background audio (crowds murmuring, etc.) and sound effects play properly, but the foreground vocal audio doesn't play right and is only audible because of the 'echoes' in the background audio.

Please help! It's really embarrassing when I can't get this to work, yet I want to show it off to people!

Two guesses here:
1. Your audio setup is not right (5.1 even though you use stereo) or the center speaker is not working
2. Some other audio filter interferes with the game(the video uses WMA Pro codecs with 6 audio channels)
