How important is the security token? Because it's annoying to use.

Slightly annoying but when i have hours and hours invested in something its worth that little extra time to protect it IMO.

If u have ONLY ps3/ps4 account, the psn account works as additional authentication so importance of another security token is low. If u have also a pc service account, u need to be extremely carefull if u want to skip token. That means knowing how to protect urself agianst all popular hacking methods (like phishing, keyloggers, poorly protected 3rd party website hacking, dictionary attacks, brute force attacks etc). There is also something called session hijacking, but security token has no effect on it.

There's one for both Android and iOS and they're free. However, you'll have to deactivate your token to use your phone and you can only use it on one phone. The OTP shouldn't die any time soon however. Many are still using really old ones from FFXI. If you've only been using it since either of the times FFXIV launched, that's not very long at all. They're fairly sturdy things ^_^
