The reason people believe this is because it HAS already happened, and not just in XIV but it's pretty notorious within WoW.
In fact in XIV there were reports of compromised accounts that didn't have tokens attached to them, having a token placed on them by whoever stole it, making it even harder for the victim to regain their account.

And no spyware on Mac?... it's cute that you still believe that Apple Propaganda.
