Your info is either mid-tower or post-tower, I take it. If not from the main scenario. I should really just run it... Sadly, I'm kinda on-call as I write this...

It was clearly both.
The clones mention the lack of strong leadership. That's paramount to internal strife. To this end, Amon resurrected Xande.
Xande in his lust for power brought about a natural disaster of titanic proportions. It was the earthquake that brought an end to the Allagan Civilization, before Xande could've.
He doesn't mind us conducting trials so close to his bazaar, so long as he's properly compensated... Yes, Portus, we pay him in sorcery-blasted bird flesh. - Cocobygo

Bahamut is a tool. He controls the flow of energy to the Crystal Tower. This was mentioned after you beat T5.Something I don't quite understand though, is how it lines up with Bahamut. Did they needed it as a part of Dalamud, to make it work, or did they just thought "well, while we're at sending something in the sky, let's take care of that problem too" ?
Considering "Dalamud" apparently comes from "Bahamut", I'd tend for the first explanation, but... :<

So they didn't disappear due to a lack of leadership (and thus internal strife) since during the time of Xande, reborn, the Allagan empire almost conquered the whole world. It was clearly both.

And the earthquake was caused by a surge of energy. Barely natural. Would you call it "natural disaster" if I came in your house and burned the whole thing down? Fire is natural after all.

You know 2.4 confirmed that Louisoix is not enthralled by Bahamut only that he is actually working with Bahamut... AS A FELLOW "PRIMAL" that's right you heard me a Primal so Louisoix is not an aetherial image made by Bahamut but from himself and as for the White Raven he is indeed a thrall to Bahamut and it is most likely that Louisoix himself resurrected him with Bahamut's own power in a way it makes sense because Louisoix is now the Primal "Phoenix".

Well sorry to spoil things... my apologies.
