Okay I am about done with tanking

I think I am about done with it. This morning was trying to do T4, and things didn't go well.

Was OTing and got to the 6th phase and kept dying. They told me I needed to grab ALL the adds from the new phase including the spiders. I understand that they wanted me to grab the rook, knight, and soldier, but the spiders are 2 more targets on the opposite sides of the map, and keeping the hate from the 3 against the healers trying to keep my alive. Usually my static LBs the Rook, feeds the spiders and lets me take the knight and soldier.

I got a lot of flack and tried to tell them how my static did things, but they didn't want to listen. So tired of having the wight of the land (literally and figuratively speaking) on me as a tank. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, so I am thinking about hanging up my axe for a set of claw.

Any advice? Do I just suck too much?

I'd say it would be partially your fault as well as your groups fault in not communicating properly, picking up the spiders as well isn't an issue what you HAVE to do if the group wants to keep the spiders up is to have the healers stack on the OT (place a world marker at the opposite end of where the dreads are being tanked) and then just steel cyclone them off.

    Thanks ^^

for the comment and vote of confidence.

I am also having a lot of trouble in Titan Ex. Wondering if its me. Such a tank heavy fight and I hardly get commendations for anything.

I've seen groups like this too.

I can manage to do that which that group was asking you to do, but it's no easy task.

And usually the people who are the most loudmouths are the ones that (a) don't even have a Lv50 tank class or (b) have a Lv50 tank class but are too afraid to tank.

As you're a fellow marauder, what I sugest on this phase is to use Skull Sunder on Knight when it's spawning (you must be near him), Butcher's Block on Soldier who probably just started to move by now, and especially for bugs on this phase (actually all phases with bugs @ T4), run to where the healer who aggroed the bugs/spinner rook is and use Berserk + Overpower + Bloodbath + Overpower + Vengeance and spam Overpower.
Also 1 or 2 Steel Cyclones (have 1 ready by having 5 stacks of Wrath, other one by using Ifuriate) if possible.

With berserk you'll have added damage.
Bloodbath will heal you a few hundreds of HP every 2-3 seconds due to your overpower/steel cyclone spamming.
Vengeance will lower the damage you receive and also cause mobs who are attacking you to get some reflected damaged. Since Bloodbath is on, this will also heal you another few hundred HPs.

Once Berserk is gone and you are inflicted with Pacification (and healers NEVER Esuna/Leeches it), use Thrill of Battle to get recover around 2000 HP.

This is very advanced tanking and I'm 100% sure that the people on the group you were with have no idea of any of this.
If the healers are decent enough, you don't even need to do half of what I said above, but since I only pretty much PUG, I've had to learn how to survive with crappy healers.

Other thing these random loudmouths don't seem to understand is that OT in that situation is getting way more damage than the MT who is tanking 2 UNBUFFED Dreadnaughts (since you're holding the spiders).
The Dreadnaught on phase 3 always has 4 stacks, and therefore is way more dangerous than 2 unbuffed Dreads on this last phase.

After the 1st unbuffed dreadnaught is killed, run to MT and have the 2nd dread eat the spiders. If the MT can't survive that (1 dread with 2 stacks of buff), it's OBVIOUS that the issue is with the main tank/healers and not with you OT.

Thanks for the advice! This should help a lot!

I don't pug T4, and personally I wouldn't advise it. Our strategy that we used to kill it is too different from common strategies to bother adapting to a new one.

Simply dont pug. Build a Static and dont let randoms deter you. I find it kinda of funny that alot of people join pugs and rage quit after 2-3 wipes. alot of them join hoping for a carry anyway.

Something the party can do to help you as they dps the phase 5 dread is to stack close in the very center of the arena with you (all but the player grabbing/lbing the rook). that way the bugs beeline to you rather than you having to mop em up. faster pulls, faster kite start, easier for all to survive.

That said, you are right, the bugs are able to be managed by the party too. It seems their initial aggro is to whoever is in front of them, first, then the healer. if dps are 1-2 steps in either direction from the center, odds are bugs will run to them first adding a couple seconds of healer safety as you pull em.

If push comes to shove and you don't get them successfully, then the party should run em into the final dred right away. It's still better than letting em pummel the healer all day.

Sometimes grabbing them is luck based, and your party needs to be competent enough to react if you cant get em both.

Ive tanked this over and over with alot of success in different groups.. i never once intentionally touched the spiders. If someone complains.. i tell them to walk to dred with the spider and leave it at that
