I'd try to start my own parties, and people would say "fk no, not with a dragoon, beotch!" Having a pretty solid guarantee that you will, in fact, get into a party in less than an hour of waiting would have been like the heavens opening up, choirs of angels singing, a hoarde of nude supermodels beckoning suggestively from the clouds, Beethoven's 9th playing somewhere in the distance, and God offering to buy me a beer, to me back then. No offense intended, but good god, you can't find something to do for ONLY 30 mins while you wait? REALLY? Just sayin' that sounds really, really spoiled rotten to me. I mean, while I queue up on DPS, I'm forum hopping, doing chores around my house, indulging in my hobby of writing, watching TV, and a hundred other things. And frankly, during the hours that I am able to play, after I've put the kids to bed and my wife has gone off for her alone time, I rarely have to wait more than 5-10 mins for roulettes and/or hard mode dungeons for tome farming. I don't really get what you're complaining about.
I can feel your pain! My first job in XI was MNK, but I started well after the glory days of the KRT party. Took me 6 months to get to 75 @.@. There were far too many days where I just gave up on trying to exp after LFP for 3+ hours. So yeah, when I hear people complaining over 30 -60 minutes, it just makes me laugh. Like you mentioned, there are plenty of things you can do while in queue.

Now with that said, I may as well also go into how I also had to walk 6 miles in snow (barefoot) just to get to school. Times are different for games, and the current EXP system is already loads better than what was in Xi for the "undesirables" . As many people have said in this thread, it's not SE's fault that the majority of the community wants to play DPS. There are already incentives in place to play tank/healer, but if they put too many more in place, then the crying will start how it's so unfair that DPS don't get the same perks. Some things you just can't win.

I also think a HUGE part of the issue are the players. People can be downright brutal to new players, or even just players who may not be at the same level as themselves. What better way to blend in than to play a DPS job. Personally speaking, I have a PLD that I would love to play, but I don't. I've never actually had anything horrible said to me, but I still chicken out whenever I'm about to queue for DF/PF events. Maybe one day I'll grow a pair and just not care what people may say, but eh. Why should we have to have the skin of an elephant just to play a video game that we play for fun?
