Thread: 2.0 coming up on first birthday -- DPS queue issue still not addressed.

Now when I queued up for a guild hest that needed tanks, and I went as tank it just wouldn't pop!
That's obviously a server problem and needs to get fixed.

The mounts weren't added to resolve the queue issues, they were introduced as a way of saying thank you to the endgame tanks according to the translated article that was posted on the forums. Of course, they even managed to eff that up by ignoring all prior contributions. "Cheers for your efforts guys now… GO BACK AND DO IT AGAIN!!! LULZ!11"

I must be one of the few who doesn't mind the duty finder wait times. I know that they're part of the game as a primary DPS player. I just use the wait time (which is anywhere from 3 minutes to an hour) to work on other things, like crafting and gathering, hunting logs, Atma farming on my main class, etc. You have plenty of time when the queue pops to change back to whatever role you're signed up for. Sure, you have to go without your chocobo for a while, but that's not really that devestating.

I still don't understand what people expect Square to do about players in MMO's who overwhelmingly want to play DPS.

Easy. Drop another meteor on the world and re-reborn into a action rpg mmo where the "holy" trinity is no longer required because of outdated mechanics

Sorry, having long wait times for random queues is just part and parcel for DPS in MMOs. You have sooooo many DPS and less healers and tanks. Just going to happen. No amount of making healing and tanking "fun" is going to change that, either. I think it's less of a problem of fun, and more that people don't want the responsibility of being a (good) tank or healer. If a group wipes, unless it's a dps check, the blame is always going to be thrown at the tank or healer's feet. SE can't do anything about that.

Low level dungeons are set up with the expectation that half of all players want to dps and a quarter of players want to tank. Queue times make it obvious that's not true. I think a good solution would be to change light party dungeons from 4-man to 5-man. It probably won't give every data center insta-queues but it will help with the wait times. SE could beef up the difficulty to accommodate 3 dps, 1 tank, and 1 healer in a low level dungeon. It's not exactly a miracle solution, but I think it will improve quality of life without having to make any radical changes.

Trinity exist for a reason.
