I hate the DPS queue as much as everyone else.. But how should SE fix that 99% of the players prefer to play DPS over tanks and healers? Ok, an actually fun tank job would maybe make me go tank, but it is against my very nature to stand and get hit by stuff. ~I am a coward...~<3

There's only so much SE can do to encourage more people to level up Paladins, Warriors, White Mages and Scholars. The rest is up to the community. Adding more tanking/healing jobs would do very little (at best) to alleviate long queue times for DD classes.

So, yes, the root of the problem is the players. Hell, I would tank or heal (I personally love the play style of the Marauder & when out in the field I'll toss a Physick out on others when I'm a Black Mage) but I'm reluctant due to the animosity that the community has towards each other. Nobody wants to deal with a tank or healer that's new. And a tank & healer can read all the guides and watch all the videos available but it doesn't compare to first-hand experience, which is how one truly learns.

Well, it might in that a lot of players will take them up because OMG SHINY NEW CLASS. To that extent, actually, when SE adds classes in the expansion, they need to be really careful about that - if the only new class is a DPS (or branched from a DPS) you're going to see the problem worsen.

DPS queue times have been sporadic for me. I've had them be significantly better sometimes - usually I'm not waiting long anymore. And then the other day I had too go do Sunken Temple as part of the main questline, and bam, 50 minute queue and I gave up to ask an FC-mate to queue with me as a healer to get us in almost instantly.

Yes, until they leveled up this class to 50.
Then they would be back to a DPS class, because they learned that the community don't want newbie tanks in their speedrun parties.

I think if they allowed people to change classes, while in a dungeon, would help decrease the wait in queues. And maybe premades not be stuck with the trinity setup, and allow chocobos to fill the gaps.

I'd try to start my own parties, and people would say "fk no, not with a dragoon, beotch!" No offense intended, but good god, you can't find something to do for ONLY 30 mins while you wait? REALLY? Just sayin' that sounds really, really spoiled rotten to me. I mean, while I queue up on DPS, I'm forum hopping, doing chores around my house, indulging in my hobby of writing, watching TV, and a hundred other things. And frankly, during the hours that I am able to play, after I've put the kids to bed and my wife has gone off for her alone time, I rarely have to wait more than 5-10 mins for roulettes and/or hard mode dungeons for tome farming. I don't really get what you're complaining about.
I can feel your pain! My first job in XI was MNK, but I started well after the glory days of the KRT party. Took me 6 months to get to 75 @.@. There were far too many days where I just gave up on trying to exp after LFP for 3+ hours. So yeah, when I hear people complaining over 30 -60 minutes, it just makes me laugh. Like you mentioned, there are plenty of things you can do while in queue.

Now with that said, I may as well also go into how I also had to walk 6 miles in snow (barefoot) just to get to school. Times are different for games, and the current EXP system is already loads better than what was in Xi for the "undesirables" . As many people have said in this thread, it's not SE's fault that the majority of the community wants to play DPS. There are already incentives in place to play tank/healer, but if they put too many more in place, then the crying will start how it's so unfair that DPS don't get the same perks. Some things you just can't win.

I also think a HUGE part of the issue are the players. People can be downright brutal to new players, or even just players who may not be at the same level as themselves. What better way to blend in than to play a DPS job. Personally speaking, I have a PLD that I would love to play, but I don't. I've never actually had anything horrible said to me, but I still chicken out whenever I'm about to queue for DF/PF events. Maybe one day I'll grow a pair and just not care what people may say, but eh. Why should we have to have the skin of an elephant just to play a video game that we play for fun?

Aht Urgan erased any pain DRG, RNG, (Colibri Party) and MNK (Salvage all the things) felt.

Then added a class, and piled all the hate and pain onto it, no matter how awesome the class really was, if played properly.

Thankfully, after I suffered with my MNK, I realized that I really was more of a healer/support person anyway Took up WHM, BRD and COR. Never had issues after that. For people in XIV, i would recommend trying out a healer or tank if you can stomach it as it will make your time tome farming so much more bearable. We all have the jobs we love, but sometimes it just makes sense to have a job you can pull out for quick queues and what not.

I tried healing for the first time last night, thought heck I will give it a shot.
Not a single person died,or get low health but the amount of snide remakes if a slither of their health isn't topped up instant is astonishing, think ill stick to DPS
