Fantasia Potion - Optional Service To Be?

Now, I've had a look around, and I've read up on someone quoting a GM on the Fantasia potion being an optional service available to buy (much like the extra retainer if you really can't manage with just the 2). Unfortunately, I've lost the quoting. But here goes...

Glorious! Wonderful! In-game life-changing! Go from tiny female Lalafell to large male Roegadyn!

I'm not saying we add a load of cash-only vanity, mounts, minions or gear. I'm asking what are peoples opinions to the chance to spend a little extra cash as a one-off on top of their subscription to buy a Fantasia potion if they please?
Unfortunately I can't see a poll option on these forums, so I'll have to leave you to comment with your opinions on the idea and anything you wish to say.

I'm all in for paying Square Enix a little bit for a character appearance change.

I'm one of those people who tends to get bored of their appearance in a game (hurray for glamour fixing part of this boredum!), however since I switched from Miqo'te to Hyur, I've grown a little tired of being a generic human-like race. I've always wanted to try being an Elezen, and I've enjoyed being a tiny little Lalafell on an alt. The only problem? My main will always remain my main. I don't want my main stuck as a Hyur for good though, and I don't want to redeem a potion through a ticket in case I lose an item in the future (I felt like I almost did previously just due to lag, and pretty much gave myself a heart attack!).

I don't have a problem with the race changes, mounts, pets, or other items they may want to sell. I do have a problem with name changes and frequent server changes. I think the way they did in FFXI was fine. Server change once every 6 mos and no name changes.

The reason I say this is that games that allow you to change your name also create an environment of no accountability or reputation. In WoW, if some rare item, like a mount, dropped at the end of a dungeon, people would just ninja it then name change. You could be an ass in dungeons, talk crap in trade chat, do what ever you want without any repercussions. In FFXI, people rarely ninja'd anything. Why? Because the community would banish you to an island where you were all alone. In a game where people need other people, reputation is everything. With a good rep, you can quickly fill a party. A bad one, no one lets you in. It keeps people honest. Allowing a paid name change changes the entire game and kills a community.

Yeah but your reputation was somewhat more important in XI. If you can get the entirety of duty finder to know you are an asshole. Damn, you need a medal. If someone who's a complete asshat changes his name and race, he'll still be an asshat. It's not as if he'll be fooling anyone unless he changes his behavior too. Which I'd still count as a win in my book.

It seems to me that people are making a bigger deal out of FFXI rep then it really was. People were jerks and ninja'd stuff all the time in XI. Not being able to change their name wasn't an issue for them. And like HoneyBiscuit said, throw in Duty Finder and rep matters even less.

With the ability to change gender and races via fantasia, which will be coming soon™, there needs to be a way to change your name with that.

My husband has at least two (he was a legacy CE) that he doesn't intend to use. I wish we could trade them!

In any case, I'd be happy to plunk down extra cash for some vanity things - name change, race change, etc. I have a couple friends who made their characters' names without realizing that they'd want to play the game and now want a name that fits better into the world.

Everyone knows that the community wants fantasia potions, especially the devs. We will have to just wait. I'm still counting on a fantasia from quick venture. :/
