I just stopped playing smn when 2.2 came out. I love the idea of Smn, but until this is made into a pet class rather than a WoW warlock; it just isn't for me.

I dont see any problem with smn, sure I agree I'd love to have a LB of that egi's signature move, that would be awesome but a part from that the class is in a nice happy place
People keep saying how they would like XI type summoner or even X, but you do realise that was pretty much a summon, use a move, release, hell in XI you rarely had it out for long
At least in XIV you can have egi out and still DPS
yeah its a nice class when your playing alone in fate group lol
Jobs were never beta tested in FFXI either and i found a lot of them really fun to play.
Not to say they can alter how a job works depending on the feedback the community is giving. Prime example is ninja, the community made it a tank, that wasnt what SE had planned at first.
And when they'll get more confident with what they created, we'll get more fun stuff. I always keep in mind Yoshi tried to "rush" the developpement to give us something complete and simple at first in a short timeframe. All the fun stuff starts now![]()

Summoner's should summon all elemental damage by summoning storms such as fire storm, thunder storm, blizzard storm and tornados. Also we should be able to summon Primals cause unlike Beast Tribes who have a High Priest instead of a Summoner they have to use the summoning ritual to call forth Primals while Summoner's who use summoning magic can summon Primals without the ritual.

Either way Square can't get around the fact that the Summoner is a Green Mage with a pet and not a Summoner Job. Anyways the base class for Summoner should be an Evoker and Thaumaturge and current Summoner's should be renamed Green Mages which will solve the problem of the Summoner Job not being an actual Summoner.

I've already established Summoner's use Summoning Magic it's a simple concept the type of Magic base they use is in their name like the Black Mage using Black Magic or the White Mage using White Magic. If the developers want to make an actual Summoner Job it has to use Summoning Magic as it's base if not then it's not a Summoner it's a Green Mage Job because they mainly inflict negative status effects.
Straight from the FF14 lore, but of course, you won't understand or yield due to your biased opinion on how Summoner 'has' to be...

WHM is conjury/white magic.
SMN uses Arcanima/Summoning.
Pay attention to THIS game's lore please. A few things, there is very little actual distinction between the different classes of magic in this game. THM and BLM use thaumaturgy, i.e. they use their personal aether to cast. BLM instead pull aether from the Void as well, allowing their spells to be more destructive.
CNJ and WHM use conjury, i.e they use the aether of their environment to cast. WHM –takes- the aether, while conjurors will first ask for it.
ACN and SMN both channel aether by using glyphs and symbols to cast. SMN is more complicated than either BLM or WHM but the premise is the same. SMN use the captured aether of a primal in order to summon an avatar of that primal; Arcanists use crystals and gems to summon Carbuncles. The DoTs are, admittedly, not tied to the summoning but are still tied to channeling (watch the animation next time you cast Bio II, Miasma or Ruin)
For summoner to act the way it has in the past would have to be likened to summoning Ifrit's head through a floating glyph to use his flame breath and we would NOT have access to Inferno/Earthen Fury/Aerial Blast because we cannot control the primal (which you seem to think we can).
tl;dr Learn THIS GAME'S LORE. Every FF has its own and they are all unique.
