Animus Fates are just an unwise move

Other Categories in the Animus Books are still tolerable such as Levemetes, Dungeons etc.. - it still keeps the player engage in some way

But the Fates are just brutal, Waiting for a FATE to spawn is not engaging and you know that SE

We know that you dont want your players getting their high-end weapons in just a matter of 2 weeks but if you force people to just stand there and wait - clearly theres something wrong

Besides a percentage of your playerbase has other things to do such as jobs that actually helps us pay $100+ a year to play your game

Also, isnt it enough already that you force people to farm 1500 myth for it? - huge timesink there already even with Speed Brayflox's, it still about 5 hrs spent just to get ONE book

Note: Now that Im actually doing it, I can see the frustration of my fellow players about it

The myth sink's bad enough, but to add more fates to having to have farmed all the fates for the Atmas themselves just feels like a giant middle finger to the face.

I was standing hundreds of hours combined in Dragon's Aery waiting for Fafnir or Nidhogg windows to open...
I farmed 2 years to get my first relic in 2006 (Kikoku) and another 1.5 years for my Mythic (Nagi)

The tears of the TL;DR "I want everything given to me now!"-generation are too delicious.
Please SQEX, what you're doing is the right thing, keep at it.

How is it lazy to not want to do nothing?
The complaint isn't that the Books take a long time to complete, it's that a majority of the time is spent literally doing nothing but waiting for one specific fate to pop.
But I guess some people are just proud about their lack of lives/jobs.

Standing around for hours waiting for one FATE constitutes to good content design? Damn. So glad I didn't play FFXI now.

Its worse that in other posts it is being suggested that the timers for fates have been altered with stupidly low spawn times. The mere fact that people are trying to do these to begin with does not make them lazy there is just virtually nothing the player can do to progress on this part. The issue is that if they want this done then they have to be doing nothing but camp these locations, which cuts in to play time and takes away from the experience. The fates are simply overkill, you can make something take a lot of effort and still be fun but se made no effort to create content that is long and fun. Getting gear drops from coil is long and fun because you are being engaged and WORKING for a chance at the drop where at least something is bound to drop its not always the piece you want but its actually fucking something. The length of coil gear is added to the fact there is weekly lockouts, so getting a full set of allagan armor for your main class takes time but you are actually WORKING for it. For fates the issue is that it is the literal definition of lazy it is required of you to sit there and wait for them to spawn.

The atma-animus objectives only reward those with shit tons of free time, so there are cases where people just cant do them not because they don't want to but because they will never have enough time to grind these objectives to where they can get them in a practical manner. By that I mean these people probably wont being seeing their atma animus weapons till lets say patch 3.0 which by that time that content will be outdated. The issue is that it isn't a 'grind' its a 'stall' the atmas you had to keep grinding for 12 items of which there is no guarantee they will EVER drop for you then you are greeted with fates that you may never be around when they actually do pop granted you are probably more likely to have the actual fate pop then atma drops but still nothing you can do to actually progress, people are being forced to not do anything on this part. So anyone who cries 'lazy' is just desperate for a sense of achievement, and has absolutely no idea on what makes a game (dare I say it?) 'fun' if they're convinced sitting on your bum doing absolutely nothing in game is enjoyable.

I'm browsing the forums after 2 hours of sitting around waiting for Giant Seps to spawn. Well, technically there was someone sitting around here wanting to do Stone Vigil. After about 30 minutes of sitting here I said, 'eh, why not? I can swap over to my tank to run you through that dungeon, sure.' From what I understand Giant Seps spawned while I was helping him, so I guess that'll teach me to help people. You go SE, get us all to sit around and vehemently deny help to people so that maybe we can be here when this inexplicably rare FATE spawns.

ATMA quest should start directly with the books and the FATE section should be random FATES and not particular ones, especially not the rare ones SE picked intentionally. "Finish 20 FATES in Southern Thanalan". This would be a goal where you know what to do for it and you would be busy doing it.

The books have 4 sections. It took me maybe an hour to kill the enemies, 30 minutes to do the three leves and maybe 2 hours including waiting time to get the dungeons done. But already the first FATE I had to do took me over 2 hours waiting time before it popped up. Waiting time, doing nothing but standing around bored in the scenery. What a great pleasure for my evening. SE team should sit together and redefine their approach to time sinks and slowdown of progression. Keep us busy but do not annoy us with waiting times.

I fail to see how waiting hundreds of hours makes you a better player than someone who only waited three.

It just sounds like you don't value your time to be honest.
