Interface Bug: Selecting Party Bars for Spells is Broken

Prior to patch 1.16, you could cast friendly spells on party members by activating the spell and clicking on the name of the recipient. Now, once you activate a spell and click on the party member’s name, it only moves the highlighted cursor to their character. You have to confirm with “enter” or click on the actual character in order to begin casting. This is an unnecessary step and forces the players to fight the interface. Please fix this error or revert this unannounced change if it was intended. A proper battle system is supposed to be responsive and allow a player to effortlessly perform their intentions, not force them to confirm every action multiple times.

I also get this problem. If could also add if you have your targeting filter on "Enemy" it won let you select you party member at all by clicking on them, but you can tab to them.

Yes, this change is very annoying. It now takes more more clicks to target heal a party member.

    Greetings you three!

The thread was moved from In-Game Bugs to General Discussion since it is more related to feedback/suggestions. We do keep track of the feedback that is left, so if there are any other suggestions, please feel free to post them here!

I can't stress it more. Make the targeting like XI. I hate the new targeting system. It keeps getting bumped to another selection. /assist is the bomb. When I finally get the mob that the pt is fighting its name should be red in the targeting menu. When multiple mobs are attacking I find it hard to find the one pt is attacking. As a mage I am constaintly changing targets. These surnames just clog my vision too.

A dark background behind pt members would help, I can't see names or the highlighted members I have targeted.

Also a different color highlight so I can distinguish my target from others is a must. It is more important to me that I am on the right target and really don't care that much who someone else is targeting. It's nice but not a big deal.

The confirmation should be taken out altogether. Having to constantly move between your mouse and the enter key (Because for some reason, confirm can't be rebound?) is just awkward.

    The new targeting system

I like the Idea to change targeting mode but not the way it's been implemented.
The fact that you change mode using up and down on the controller's D-pad or arrow keys is very confusing for veteran FF XI player since we are used to press up/down to select party member.
With this new target system, someone used to play XI would select a healing spell then press up or down to select party member but end up on enemy only targeting... you get the idea...
I think that the targeting arrow key/ D-pad should still target anything from the targeting mode when pressing right or left, and target party/alliance member when pressing up down. The button you press to change targeting mode should be something else, like pressing R3 (pressing R3 atm put you in 1st person mode, that could become L1+R3 )

That being said, I also want the FFXI targeting system back and maybe merged with this new one... in XI when you were selecting a buff/healing ability it would only let you target party member and when selecting an agressive action it would only let you target enemy.
    The /assist "<t><st><stnpc><stpc>" is also a must.
/target "<t><st><stnpc><stpc>" or /action "action name" "<t><st><stnpc><stpc>" would also be very useful...

Please ! make haste before we get used to the new ineffective system so we don't have to relearn to target again when its done !
